He is passive and submissive by nature and has friends who are more take charge types. So whenever they do anything, he always just sits back and lets them take charge.

The same goes for our relationship -- if we are to do anything at all, like even go on a simple date, I have to be the one to plan everything, because he is too passive and submissive to do anything.

The problem is, I am by nature also more passive and submissive. I would prefer for a relationship to be either BALANCED, or else to have the MAN be the more dominant one.

He always claims that I wear the pants in the relationship, that I am the dominant one. But I don't like it. I HATE being the dominant one, and if I AM the one who "wears the pants", it's because I've been forced into the role! If I didn't take charge once in a while, all we would ever do is sit in the house and watch TV.

Can this problem be resolved? Do you think he will ever grow up and be more of a man?

you have to let him know that it would be nice once in a while for him to take charge. i went out with a girl who was really shy and passive. i didnt mind at first, considering im the guy. but i couldnt make every decision. from what to eat, were to eat, what she should were, should she take the job, what should she do for her bday, what should she give her friend. i was with her for a year. i mentioned it to her several times, but she made no effort to change. people like this wont ever. thats why you need to bring it up and talk to him bout it.
