....why would God consider it a "waste of time" to do a few miracles: Feed the starving in Darfur, reduce some of the suffering of amputees by restoring limbs, and show some of this love that he is reputed to be made of?

The waste of time statement was made about an earlier game I posted when I asked believers to ask God what number I had written on my desktop. Some said that God wouldn't waste his time. I was surprised that Christians thought God was bound by a scarcity of time.

Someone above says that God is testing us. How? By refusing to feed hungry people and refusing to cure the ill? Gee, I guess I failed this test, yet again, because, I just don't see the logic.

Edit - oh, I get it now. Adam ate a piece of fruit and pissed off God. Now it all makes perfect sense.

"sometimes the teacher must show up in class."
Class is dismissed, He has been here, taught, and went home. Now the students actually have to study for the final test...Judgement Day. You just don't understand. It was because of SIN that all this suffering came into the world. This will all pass when Christ returns:
Rev 21:4 And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. And there will be no more death, nor mourning, nor crying out, nor will there be any more pain; for the first things passed away.
and are these people crying out to God? Are they praying fervently to the One True God?
1Peter 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears open to their prayers. But the Lord's face is against those who do evil.
God answers prayer - sometimes the answer is NO. He has worked miracles in my life; no not restoring limbs, and we work hard for the food we have. But with my marriage, my children, illnesses and so on....But please remember this verse:
2Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness, but is long-suffering toward us, not purposing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
There is still time, but you better get to studying or you will fail that final exam.

The starving in Darfur has been casued by man, obviously the neighbors in that area are not loving each other.Christ is to be expressed through us humans, and its not being done. We are commanded to take care of our fellow man. something the world has not been doing. Even with the amputree situation there are companies that can help these people, but the price isn't right. We have a responsibility to each other as people to take care of each other the hearts of man have gone cold. People don't care about something thats so far away. They click Darfur on then click it off or turn the channel. God shouldn't have to perform a miracle we, should be taking care of each other as commanded by the Bible.

He doesn't consider it a waste of time to him. He may consider it a waste of time to you.

God performed miracles when he walked the earth, and look at how you speak of him now. Why would tomorrow be any different? If he did perform a miracle in Swaziland, e.g., would your heart become unhardened?

God has performed miracles in my life. That is, he DOES show up. But his showing up is contingent upon your asking him to, with earnestness and humility, with the intention of finding him, not challenging or scoffing at him out of your own pridefulness.

He does do this: through the church He heals the scars of our soul.... I can go on there- but physically? He has many people on earth with organizations that try to do just this: feed the hungry... etc. And he has guided medical researchers on their quest for many cures, such as polio... etc. He has done great good for us all, though he works through other people. Such as Moses, who, and unlikely messenger who had a speach impediment. He, of all people, were chosen to lead the Hebrews out of Israel. Likewise today he guides many people to do present day miracles for those of need.

And every once in a while a big miracle does happen; such as in Fatima. Read about "Our Lady of Fatima." 70,000 people were there to witness that one, including government officials. All were healed, all saw the miracle, all fell at their knees at the sight of God's power and glory.

I'm an agnostic, first of all, but it seems to me that, unless God has his own reasons for allowing the world to be the way it is, he would have cut to the chase and plopped everybody down in Heaven right from the get-go. If there is a God, I don't presume to know his thoughts--do you?

Not that I believe in God, but if I had to say, it would probably be because God is testing us. Mainly to see who should be saved and who shouldn't by judging one's actions. I suppose that people who are able to solve God's puzzles or life's problems, then they would be the worthy ones to go to heaven. Plus, why should God have to do everything that was a result of human actions?

I believe it's because God works naturally, he doesn't just zap people with blessings, food or new limbs. Things must happen and exist in order to create new situations that bring on more changes. Problems exist in order to teach us as people, different life lessons.

Because of sin. If Adam and Eve hadn't sinned that one time this world would be perfect but it isn't. And I have to say that I don't know exactly ,but... God has an amazing respect for his Creation of which we are and everything is. So I have to say that I do not know. But he loves you sooooo much and everyone reading this. He LOVES YOU.

I think that he left that in our hands. I don't see you performing Miracles in the street, but I recall God giving us the power over demon's and the ability to perform miraculous works in Jesus name. Oh by the way God did bring me out of a 2 week coma after I died during childbirth... I think he is working despite your disbelief.

As darkangel points out god is too busy teaching us all to provide any answers.

And as Sandy said he ignores all the Christian prayers for something to happen good in Swaziland because He just can't be bothered. Nice.
