I had an awkward first meeting with a guy who was always looking at me and one day I went up there and started to talk to him, he looked uncomfortable, got shifty eyed, which made me shifty eyed, and it ended up being a bit uncomfortable. Now I can tell he's avoiding me entirely. I'm going to have to see this guy all year long since he works in the library, what can I do? It's totally obvious he's uncomfortable and that makes me uncomfortable. Its even ruining my concentration since we see eachother all the time.

Well, it all depends on what you said to him. If you started up a topic not generally considered very sociable, that may have set him off. And if he was getting "uncomfortable", he may be gay or has a girlfriend already. Or, he is just very shy.

He could just be shy. Or maybe he really likes you and he doesn't want to be too obvious about it so his attitude comes off as avoidance. Maybe he doesn't know what to say to you. Don't make a big deal about it, I mean don't keep trying to create situations where you can talk to him. Let him come to you if he wants. Just try and act normal around him, don't reply to his uncomfortableness with uncomfortableness. Don't let him control your emotions or your concentration.

Or you could try talking to him again and start the convo with something funny or something you know he's interested in. Show him that you're not fazed by your first meeting.

He's either ultra shy or a nut job...or both. Don't let this persons problem become yours. Just act as you normally would. If he is avoiding you ...again...his problem. no point in trying to figure it out. Just do what you do ...and let him be the nervous one.

Just smile happily and say 'Hi' as you see him and pass him by. Dont take it personally. You dont know him or what his troubles are.
