Faith is not proof of anything.
Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence. Richard Dawkins
Faith is an absolutely marvelous tool. With faith there is no belief that cannot be justified. Rev. Donald Morgan (b. 1933), Atheist theologian
No amount of belief makes something a fact. James Randi
Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it doesn't go away. Philip K. Dick
Faith is believing what you know ain't so. Mark Twain
I don't agree that God is dead. That would mean that he had to have existed at one time.

WHEN i WAS A CHILD My dad TOOK ME TO ny, ny, AND i SAW MANY WONDERFUL THINGS, i ALSO NOTED LOTSA GRAFFITI. we TOOK AN UNDER GROUND TRANSPORT (SUBWAY) TO SOMEWHERE AND i REMEMBER THERE ON THE WALL OOPS there was this old Graffiti that said GOD IS DEAD---NECHE.
underneath it there was a new graffiti it said
NICHE IS DEAD---GOD
i'M NOT SURE OF THE SPELLING OF THE PHILOSOPHERS NAME BUT IT IS CLOSE ENOUGH TO KNOW OF WHOM i SPEAK.
i THINK YOU MIGHT BE STUCK ON A RATHER ONE SIDED DEFINITION OF FAITH. lETS LOOK AT IT in a different light since we are discussing proof.
The scientific method goes like this if I remember it correctly.
One after a period of observation and thought one comes up with a idea of what might be true. Then one must conduct some kind of proof that their theory is true or correct.
Then one says If what I think is true actually is true then if I do this then that will happen.
Then an experiment is set up, preferrably one so simple it can be repeated by anyone and they will get the same results.
If what the experiment is then carried out and the end result is the one predicted then it is a proof that the theory is possibly correct. The best experiment is one that if it is conducted properly excludes all other possibilities with regards to alternate causes for the trial to have worked as predicted.
where does faith fit into this process. Faith is the theory one wants to validate. The experiment is the following of directions to become filled by and with the comforter. The measurable result is that the person who conducted the experiment has a change in status. the problem is that although the results are reported world wide they are different with each person. The change part is however observable to anyone who knew the person well b4 and is willing to spend the time observing that person afterwards. There are many spouses that will testify to the change in their mate after the experiment is conducted. There is a problem verifying if the guidlines were followed though because there are those who would not be willing to faithfully conducy the experiment but say they had because they want to be a member of an exclusive club. Thsi than causes many to wonder. This is why I differentiate between knowers and believers.

Absolutely not. Proof would be something more tangible. Something you can touch, see, feel, smell, taste etc. Most, if not all, faith is base on some fact, at least enough to justify your faith.
Usually depend on faith for things we cannot control and neither prove nor disprove. We also depend upon faith for things we need or desire in our lives. Religion is a perfect example of relying upon faith. It is a belief. We know of all the tangible things in our lives yet can only theorize on how they began. Faith is good and is often all we have to go on. We take many things on faith each and every day with challenging them. We listen to music without the ability to prove exactly how it works, we just turn a switch. We drink tap water or bottled water without analyzing it. We need faith because no one of us has all the answers to all our reality. Keep the Faith!!

What is it you are trying to prove? The existence of God? Well, my bible has 228 references to "faith" so it must be pretty important in His eyes...here's a couple of good ones for YOU SPECIFICALLY:
Acts 26:18 in order to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the authority of Satan to God, so that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.
Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
2Corinthians 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight;
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God,
Ephesians 6:16 Above all, take the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
and so on and so on....

Faith is not proof. If it is then millions of little kids prove the existence of Santa and fairies (among other things) every year.
God is not dead, god/s are not real.

If I concede that faith is not proof, will you concede that the lack of faith is not proof to the contrary either?

Why is it the anti-religious don't know what the word 'faith' means?
*You* my friend have faith. Faith in your neighbors, faith in your friends, faith the air you're breathing isn't poison... faith, faith, faith, faith, faith... it makes up your reality.
If the anti-religious mean 'faith in God' they should say so.
