Synchronizers. Yes dodge man is right the transmission is light enough and easy to remove. However there is a few tricky things to pay attention to the reverse idler gear shaft with bolt to the transmission case is a bugger to get back in just right. At almost nine years old and two body styles ago. So newest style isn't what you're about. Sentras are dependable little cars with out much drivers seat comfort.

i own a repair shop, and that's not a bad job to do,you have to pull the transmission on it,but there not that hard to work on,Nissan has a simple transmission in them, and the part shouldnt cost around 25 bucks for it,and if you know someone who can help you its less than a days job,in ,and out and your back o the road again and if you can get a good deal on the car id take it there good little cars to have ,and cheap operated also, but don't try this by your self t will take two people to get the transmission in ,and out of it,and that's with using a good jack, good luck, and also id replace the clutch, and pressure plate, and throw out bearing while i had it down,it might save future problems with it,good luck i hope this help,s.
