I don't know the symptoms in general, but one of the symptoms would be problems with sleep. It could be either sleeping too much, as some people might do if they were seriously unhappy, or else not sleeping enough, as some people do when they are too tense and nervous to go to bed on time.

The symptoms are as different for everyone. I had an uncle who was catatonic for awhile. His company was having big permanent layoffs and he had just broken up with his fiancee. He had to get "shock treatments" they called them back then. He recovered in a couple of months and never had a recurrence.
