Can you name a weird food, not like something really weird. Just something I may have never eaten before, something uncommon, but common enough so if I put it in my essay that I have never eaten this type of food before they would still be able to have some sort of idea what it is.

If it is a really weird foor can you also tell me what's in it.

Fried Lamb's Liver and onions - delicious served with mashed potato.

Peel the potatoes, cut them into chunks, and put them on to boil. Chop up one small onion per person (into fairly big chunks), put them in a frying pan with a lid, with enough real butter to coat the bottom of the pan when melted, and a couple of bayleaves. Put the heat on to low, and when the butter is melted, stir the onions and bayleaves so they're covered with butter. Put the lid on, and let the onions sweat until they're soft, not coloured, or golden at most, and there's liquid in the pan. Whilst the onions are doing, wash the liver, and chop off only the pieces with no tubes or membrane. You'll have to throw away most of the liver, but you only want the good bits. They should be in strips. Then, coat them in plain flour seasoned with salt and lots of pepper. Take the lid off the pan of onions, give them a stir, and turn the heat up. Then, put the liver in there, and brown it, turning the pieces over, making sure it doesn't stick to the pan. Then, add some of the hot water from your potatoes (or just hot water or stock), enough to cover the liver and onions. Stir the mixture, add a couple of teaspoons of mustard, and stir it in. Turn the heat down again, and put the lid back on. Leave it for 10 mins or so, then give it a stir, remove the bay leaves, and turn up the heat again, to simmer vigourously. Add some gravy granules (beef flavoured), and mix in well. This will thicken the sauce up. Taste the sauce, and season if required. Stir frequently, keeping on the heat for about 5-10 minutes, whilst you mash the potatoes. Serve and enjoy - the mash absorbs the lovely gravy beautifully. Yummmmmm!

I've eaten fried grass hoppers. I've also eaten the Japanese fermented beans Natto, its a completely different taste. In Thailand I ate yellow watermelon. It was great, mush sweeter than the regular red one. I also like quail's eggs, Octopus, Calamari tentacles, Surf clams, used to eat horse jerky when I was a lil girl all the time. Oh, I also love sea urchin. I eat em ceviche style, with lemon juice, oil, cilantro, pepper, salt and onion.

When I was on vacation in Tobago, they had "cheeseburgers" on the menu. I thought I'd be safe ordering that... not so. When the burger came, it had a horrible smell to it, so I asked the waiter what it was made of. DONKEY. I could not stomach the smell, and ended up eating cherry-vanilla ice cream (made out of goat's milk) and grilled cheese (also goat's milk) for the entire trip!!

Spent some time in Mexico this year. Ant larvae (ant eggs) are actually a delicacy. I can tell you that it is served as the stuffing in a stuffed chili pepper. Hope this helps.

Perhaps kimchi? It's Korean, sort of a fermented pickled cabbage dish. I love it, most Westerners think it's revolting.
