Cannot keep even when I try to manually add in. Causes misalignment of either bullets or numbers on right.

To indent 1.1, just type it in the left margin and click on the "increase indent" button on the Standard Toolbar.

Now, display the ruler: click View, choose Ruler.
On the left side, be sure the "L" button shows.
Type a line of work and click on the ruler to create a left tab.
(Click on a number for easy setting.)

Now, click Format
click Tab
The position of that tab should be in the "tab stop position" box.
click Left
click No. 2 for a leader
click Set
click o.k.

If you find you want the tab a bit to the right or left, just click and drag it.

Follow the instructions in Word help for creating a table of contents.
If your document is formatted using standard headers, then it will generate the TOC for you.

Insert => Reference => Index and Tables
then select the Table of Contents tab and specify desired options.

Review the different methods in the Word help and choose the one appropriate for your document (i.e. the one that will require the least work on your part).
