Not much!!!!!! or Not nearly enough for what they do... $19,000. here in South Arkansas, but is a small town.population aprox. 4,000.
I am a Detention Officer and we make $19,500. that's a little more and while the job is dangerous, it is not nearly as dangerous as a Police Officer who has to put his life on the line!!!. Now, a Detective makes a considerable amount more, I mean a few thousand more. Still not enough! It is a lot less than a big City but not nearly as dangerous.

This all depends on where you work. If you work for a police dept with ony a handful of people, you might only make $25,000 a year. If you work for a major outfir like the LAPD, or NYPD, you might make in the area of $40-$50 thousand dollars a year.

I make $56,000 before overtime is added. With overtime, I hit around $70,000. It varies from state to state and city to city.
