Its a tough battle she faces. I am surprised you are allowed to bring her home at night, that one is new to me. Sounds like if she has no dehydration, you have won the battle. It is the dehydration that kills the puppy - not the parvo. Parvo is basically like the worst intestinal flu you have ever had, where you can't keep food or water down, and you have awful runs. The reason it is so harsh for a puppy, is that they do not have the body weight to withstand the constant dirreah, and between that and the high temprature, they become dehydrated and die. It will take a week or so for you to see any signs of improvement, but if she is holding her own against it, and remaining stable, my guess would be that she is going to come through this. Keep up the agressive treatment, as that is the only way to keep her going. I foster dogs for an animal rescue group, and we see our fair share of parvo cases, most remain in the hospital for 5 days, so I would say, from your description that the worst is over, and now it's a matter of supporting her little body until she gets some strengh back.

I tell you what, your best bet is to get him to a vet. Most of those concoctions don't work. You need to have some sort of medications on board along with fluids (*not drinking fluids,...IV fluids*). If your other dog lived with parvo previously with just that on board...you are a very lucky person. I've seen plenty of people try to do home care even with SOME medications given, and they don't make it. But until you get him/her to the vet, try giving some pedialyte to keep them from getting dehydrated. Good luck, you're going to need it,...I've seen plenty of parvo cases...some that lived, and some that didn't.

have you got any glucose powder?? if you have then pour about 3 heaped tablespoons full into a teacup of water , and almost constantly ( no longer than half an hour between times) drip it into the dogs mouth, because its constantly loosing fluids you have to keep replacing it. in the morning if your dog is still alive ( which i hope is) ask your vet for a few sachets of royal canin electrolite, its just like the glucose . the glucose will give the dog some energy and mixed with the water it will keep him/her hydrated. i dont pray much but i will for you and your dog tonight. if you can do what ive said and your dogs doesnt make it , at least you no youve done everything you can. xox

I have found a recipe for a pedialite substitute:
4 1/4 C. Water. 2 tsp. sugar - you can add up to eight for flavor. 1/2 tsp. salt and 1/2 tsp baking soda. This is good to have on hand for babies that are getting dehydrated or showing signs of URI.
Good Luck!

Parvo is fatal, and highly contagious. Nothing you can give him is as good as IV fluids.

Not really sure about the apple juice mix, but you can give your pup Pedialyte (make sure it's not fruity flavored). Some vet clinics will sell you fluids to give your pup SQ, but not all vets.

I had several puppies that got parvo and were only a few weeks old. We lost a few but saved most of them. We just got pedialite, dog food and blended them in the blender until it was like a milkshake and we kept feeding them with a baster until their bellies were full. We did this alot and were able to save them. It most likely depends on how fast you find out and respond. I think we only lost 1 pup after we started feeding them. Hope this helps and good luck to you.

Parvo is deadly. Take your dog to the vet if you don't want it to die.
