My doctor gave me a tip for keeping my glucose levels good. Add 1/4 teaspoonful ground cinnamon to food or drink once a day. I usually add it to applesauce and it really works. In fact, a few elderly people have had so much success with this method that they've gotten their glucose so low they had to be hospitalized for a day. To increase iron, add raisins to oatmeal or other healthful cereals.

First off, see if the doctor can recommend or prescribe a multi-vitamin with an iron supplement. Add more iron-rich foods, such as legumes, leafy greens, some whole grains.

As far as blood glucose levels, you need to start reading labels. As much as possible, avoid foods containing high fructose corn syrup (you'd be surprised how many things contain it!). Your son should also try to eat several small meals a day - three meals and three snacks, some say. Try to make each meal balanced, as far as carbs, fat, and protein. Take a look at information on the "Glycemic index" - it may prove informative for you.
