im wanting to make some jello shots this Sat and was thinking of using hot oj instead of hot water. will boiling the oj make it taste bad? has anyone tried this? what about pinapple juice?

When you're boiling liquid you're reducing it which in turn is concentrating the flavor. Just know that if your oj is sweet or tart boiling it can make it 10 times as sweet or tart. Also if you scorch your juice, it's just giong to be bitter period. There's some enzyme in pineapples that don't work with gelatin so those might not solidify. Good luck with it.

No, boiling orange juice will only concentrate the flavors and make it, actually a bit sweeter. If you boil it long enough, it will turn into a syrup. same for Pineapple juice. Enjoy the party.

i've done it with pineapple juice, it's pretty good.
