The reference is to the octagon shape of the Bagua in Feng Shui. The back-right would be about he 4 or 5 O'clock postiton of the room if the door is at the 6 O'clock position (always start with the entry at the bottom of the Bagua).
Another way are the points of a compass on the same octagon.
Top would be North, so the "back-right" would be the South-East postion.
Always start with the bottom of the Bagua at the door/entry of the house/room. Do not use the actual global directions of North, South, East, West

i don't really know what you mean.
but this is what i think:
in fengshui, the facing is always where the door is facing. this means, you are inside the house looking out the door, the direction you are facing is the facing of the whole house; and the direction opposite of this direction is the back side.
there is also another kind of facing inside the house. where you decide to face while watching tv, or what direction you face in your office. we can use our favorable direction/s to decide which direction to face. if we face north while watching tv, meaning the tv is facing south, then the facing is north and the back is south (even when the main door of the house is facing west).
facing also can be used in the bedroom, our foot when lying down must point toward our favorable direction. so that when we get up, we face our good direction.
the facing of a particular room is similar to the whole house. you must be inside the room looking out the door, the direction you are facing is the facing of the room. for example, if you are kua 2 (calculated based on our birthdate using 8 mansions), if the room faces north, then it is bad for you. you may want to use it as a storage room, not a bedroom.

Maybe break the room into "sections" and work within one section at a time. Stand back and see how the sections call and answer each other, and if something interrupts their conversation remove it. Know what I mean?
