TELL em girl lol, I've been a Army Wifey for over 12 years and my husband unit just got the award for the most deployments and most miles traveled by the president right before they got deployed to Iraq/Kuwait AGAIN. They go on 6 month rotations there 4 months home and this is his 6th time since it all started, they were the 1st ones there to begin with and they'll be the last ones to leave cuz they're transportation unit. But your right ppl automatically believe that us wives sit home eatin bon bons, spending all our husbands money on men that we're cheatin with. It couldn't be FARTHER from the truth in my life as well as yours u said. My husband is my SOUL MATE and there's no one that compares no matter how many times I have to spend holidays alone. Not only that when my husband is deployed I have NEVER spent 1 penny of the money he earns so we can enjoy it together when he returns each time. Keep yo head up girl haterz gonna hate no matter what. Take care God Bless to you and your family.

If you know that you are a good woman to your husband then don't worry or let all the hype get to you!
The reason why you all have that stereo type is because of all of the insecure women out there that do not know how to do anything for them self and in fact are selfish as hell.
This is coming from someone how has seen the military by every side that you can. I was a military brat when young, then joined the military myself, married and divorced another solider and now working for the military as a civilian.
It is just part of all of the bull **** that we all see and go threw being in an military in a military enviorment. After a while you develop a tough skin just like your spouse, it will help you make it to the end.

It is always a few "bad apples" that give the whole bunch a bad rep. Military wives have the toughest job in the military. Our military men need strong, independant women on the homefront. Yes there are some women not cut out for this, and yes the stress is high. But there are some awesome women at home doing amazing things, explaining why daddy cant be at home right now, fixing everything under the sun, and hoping and praying for the safe return of their husbands. Many of these incredible women are doing this with little to no support from those around them (with the exception of other military wives who understand what they are going thru). But of course all anyone sees is the "bad" stuff that can and on occasion does happen.

There will always be stereotypes. AND cheating in the military is actually very prevalent. A couple of years ago it was found that many of the married couples on base were having key parties!! I couldn't believe it but now nothing suprises me. And this last year alone we've had numerous article fifteens give out because of adultery. It makes you figure that everyone must be doing it.
Someone once told me the following:
Army wives are fat
Air Force wives spend money like they actually have it
Navy wives sleep around
Marine wives are non existant.
It made me laugh because I know people who fit into those stereotypes, but they are JUST stereotypes. I'm an Air Force wife and I don't spend a ton of money. I know very nice looking Army wives, loyal navy wives and my own Grandmother was a Marine wife. But stereotypes are sometimes based on even the tiniest of truths.

I have had two deployments to war zones in my military career. The first time, I was married. It was more difficult on my wife than it was on me. She had to take care of our daughter, feed her, stay up with her when she got sick, worked a full time job, take care of the rent, laundry, etc. All I had to do was my job. All meals, clothing and housing were provided by Uncle Sugar. My wife would try to avoid the news because of the images of soldiers being wounded and dead. It was a constant worry for her. My last deployment was as a divorcee. I was in Taji, Iraq. Every time my daughters, friends, and relatives watched TV news, they would see reports of the Green Zone under attack (we always sarcastically refereed to the Green zone as 'the safest place in Iraq). Then I would get the emails and letters; 'Are you in the green zone?' I would say no. But I never tried to give false assurances. I would always let them know when we got hit, but assure them that I was OK. For the most part, the scene in Jarhead of the video the Marine's wife sent him is an urban legend, that was never verified. For the most part, if there was any affairs by husbands or wives of military people, they either recociled or got divorced, but there was very few. However, there was a lot of people that had affairs while over seas with other military personel.

You are one of the few. I am a Navy wife and there is more Drama than I can handle going on while the husbands are gone. I no longer am involved with the wives clubs because it seemed like all the girls do is go out and cheat. Of course there was the fair share of men who were being unfaithful as well.
Stay strong and just live for your family. Set a good example for those of us who value our marriage.
Blessings!!!

My wife gets offended by that stuff too. It does happen, you have to admit, but no more than in the civilian world, and it's ignorant people that label military wives like that.

Because those people dont know what it's like to have thier significant other taken away from them to fight a war that everybody is just dying in. They dont see how hard it is to let him go to such a horrible place. They just dont understand and until they are in that position they never will.
