be a responsible dog owner and leash your dog when outside. most towns have leash laws for a reason. and when he does run out of the yard , gets hit by a car, shot by the neighbors or in a fight with another dog, you'll wish you had kept him on a leash.

a neighbors Lab (never on leash) attacked my amstaff while i was walking her on leash. good thing i had control over my dog or the lab would have been dead meat.

If your yard isn't fenced, I'd be careful. If he sees a squirrel or chipmunk he could chase it and end up in a road.

for NOW. be careful: he hasn't learned to not be afraid of the world yet. check with your local city ordinance and be sure there isn't a leash law; you could be cited if you're caught with a dog unleashed or not in a fence in some towns and cities. besides that, what about the day he decides to chase something? be careful, please. and be RESPONSIBLE!

My dog is 8 years old, and I still have to watch him, or he'll run away.

My dog will run at the slightest chance :-(. There is a great swimming hole behind our house and she can't resist it.
