create something that he hated?
I'm just trying to figure out what was in the mind of the author of this scroll. Any ideas?

I should have mentioned:
It's the "Tractate of the Two Spirits"

Just to clarify:
I don't believe in this text. I'm just trying to understand the author's intent when writing it. It is for a religious studies class.

Have you never cooked up something you just didn't like at all?
Scriptures contain efforts of man to understand the supernatural and the natural. Our mortal efforts may be finite and less than perfect. Yet in scripture we may still find elements of truth which we can weave together to gain a better understanding of what is in us, around us, behind us, and ahead of us.

God works in mysterious ways. I think the author either observed good and evil during his/her life time and reported on it. Or, perhaps the author was divinely inspired to write the words. One thing you can bet on though. God does not make mistakes. Everything our creator does is for a reason, even if we do not understand the purpose. My perspective is that everything is in balance--for politics and society, there are good and evil; for science, there are electrons and protons; for humanity, there is love and hatred; etc.
You question is a deep and thought provoking question. I wish I knew the answer, but I trust in God.

What if God created it not with the intention of hating it? Kind of like a painter or a writer realizing they hate their own work........ but only after it is in the public eye.
An experiment gone bad if you will.

The author of the "Dead Sea Scrolls" was not inspired by God to write it. It was his own opinion or take on things.
Trust only the Word of God. The Bible.

Mythology, Fiction and Fantasy don't hold to responsibility for their creative endeavors and either do superstitions.
they obviously either thought it sounded good at the time or that the public would not question it... remember when they were contrived few were educated at all ...
hope my two cents worth helps...peace out enjoy !

Why would God hate.
Hate cannot be forgiven and I am pretty sure that the son of God preached forgiveness. The dead sea scrolls were written by another clown and you clows assume that any old piece of paper must be the word of God.

I believe the spirit of darkness is a figurative reference to the mist of darkness (Satan's influences) we must find our way through in this life to find our way back to Heaven.

well, pretending there's a god and this god has human attributes and one of those attributes was the ability to get bored. so this god becomes irritated with having only himself to adore and creates a being out of his irritation... literally creates it out of his boredom and irritation. (he having no choice as all that exists is he so every thing he is exists) so this entity is boring and irritating and begins to morph from simple boredom and irritation into loathing... self loathing and quickly self hatred developes and all it's attending maladies ... murder, rape abuse, war, slavery, sadism, masochism. all those things we hate about ourselves is because god got bored with his harmonious self.

I can't see God "hating" anything. It's not in His nature to hate and I'm not sure it's even possible. Perhaps the word "Hate" was loosely translated........

Look at it this way, Why do parents keep secrets from their children? Is it not for their overall benefit of composure? So too must we trust that God desires what is best for us.
By the way, thanks again for that copy of the Upanishads.
