My daughter and son-in-law were married by a woman minister in a beautiful ceremony. But she was not ordained just to do weddings - I've never heard of that.

I think it all comes down to the acceptability of female pastors and ministers withing particular churches. If a church does not accept the idea then it is the individual's desire against the church's and the church holds greater clout in deciding religious matters.

Gender would not be of as great an importance to myself as personality would as you can find less suitable pastors or ministers in almost any area.

I do think that many would opt for a female to officiate at weddings. Whether it is right to ordain a woman 'just to officiate at weddings' is a different story as it sounds a little off (and a little exploitive).

My brother and his wife were married by a woman minister. I actually found her a delight. My sister in law? that's a different story.
