thats true, teens from 12-17 suffer the most from depression.

Who is affected? Get the statistics....unfortunately, even the resources conflict with each other. Some say middle aged adults (loneliness), while others say depression affects the elderly (due to health status and living in long term facilities)..Read on:

One in five people suffers from depression at some point in their life. Depression can strike anyone, even children and babies who have been abused or neglected.

Middle-aged adults, however, are more likely to become depressed than any other age group.

From another website:
2.5% in children
8.3% of teens are depressed
15% elderly over age 65
25% living in nursing homes

More women than men get depression

6 times more likely to get depress over 80 yrs of age.

I think that the elderly has it the worst but it seems society ignores this problem perhaps because society feels that these folks are wasting away and want to focus on teens since they are our future.

Depends on which age group finds the time to concentrate on the negatives in their life. Seems to be pretty general in all ages.. Not realizing they are changing brain chemistry, which adds to the depression caused by those negative thoughts.

probably teens, and the range is most likely growing to include pre-teens too. Pressure to be "cool", skinny, pretty, and perfect are harsher and harder to comply with. They also don't know how to deal with all these pressures so they become bigger probalems then they would be for an adult. As an adult to deal with stress you can do things to help you cope better then kids can..... example, go for a long drive, shoot a gun, smoke, go to a bar/club, etc.
