That question cannot be answered with a number. Safe speed depends on the highway, the weather, your vehicle, your state of alertness, your reactions and physical and mental fitness, the skill of the other drivers on the road, the number of vehicles on the road, and on and on. The limit could be 70 mph, but in a storm, 50 could be dangerous speeding. The Autobahn in Germany has stretches with no speed limit, but you can and will be given a speeding ticket if you don't slow down for bad weather. The ticket for speeding on the stretches that do have speed limits is very expensive.

if your driving over ten miles per hour over the speed limit that's to fast to be going,i had to learn that the hard way a long time ago,but take it from someone who died on the operating table and was brought back,speed does kill,and sometimes you don't get a second chance,i did i was lucky though,you may not be as lucky as some people have been,good luck,and i hope your not out driving too fast,i hope this help,s.
