My favourite Adams photograph is Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico.

Adams usually planned how to get his magnificent images but this one was found. This is the history behind it:

[It] was taken late one autumn afternoon. . . . While driving along a two-lane blacktop highway in New Mexico, [Adams] had slammed on the brakes and veered off to the shoulder. As soon as he saw the moon suspended over the tiny town of Hernandez, [he] must have known he had a chance to do something special, but he would have to hurry. The setting sun illuminated a range of snow-capped peaks in the distance, and in the foreground it reflected brilliantly off the white crosses in a cemetery. Adams scrambled to get his 8 by 10 camera ready on the tripod. Then, with the composition framed and focused, he couldn't find his exposure meter, so he estimated the aperture and shutter speed settings based on the constant for the luminance of the full moon, and released the shutter. No sooner had he snapped the picture than the sunlight faded. But by then the image he called Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico was fixed for all time. Yes I know who Ansel Adams was. He went around the country during the depression. He did black and white photography which is an art. Black and white photos stand the test of time better than color. And it is a real art to get the depth of light and dark and grays just right. I don't have a favorite, but I do love his work. He was a very gifted man.

Just recently, I found an old picture. I have very few any more. No pictures of my late parents or my lifetime friends and experiences (exhusbands punishment) I opened a box and found a photo of me in my First Holy Communion dress. I remember posing for it out front of our apartment building. I remebered how proud I was and how dressed up I felt. You never got to wear all white, I think immediately following the photo, I was duck taped to a chair so I'd stay clean. I felt'holy" that day. Boy, things have changed. ps If you have someones photos, return them, They are somehow very important. Good question Star 4 you

Never meet him, wish I had. But I was lucky enough to wonder through some of the same areas he once photographed. I love his work and wouldn't try to pick a favorite.

I have never heard of him but i just googled him then, and i dont think his work is anything special. A lot of the photos could of really benefited by being in colour. I honestly could not chose a favorite, only because none of them stood out to me.
