your truck has what is known as RABS, rear abs, this system depends on a sensor in the rear differential that senses the speed of the rear wheels, when the module detects a sharp spike in the wheel speed with the brake pedal switch closed, it will modulate the brake fluid pressure to the rear brakes to prevent the rear of your truck from racing you down the road. This system may also have a ride height sensor that detects the amount of weight transfer during a panic stop. More than likely you have a bad rear wheel speed sensor. if you have an ohm meter you can test it, if the resistance between the two pins in the sensor is greater than 10,000 ohms or less than 4 ohms the sensor needs to be replaced. A scan tool cannot be used to extract codes as this system flashes codes using the abs warning light when you ground the test terminal. if all this seems too complicated you may want to let a professional take a look at it. Just keep in mind that this is a relatively simple system and if the technician starts to throw alot of complex explanations, he probably isn't familiar with this system, take it to another place. usually, quicky brake shops don't have the training needed for abs repair and you may be happier utilizing a dealership or a reputable independant shop.

Forget it, your brakes will work just fine. I am sure you haven't noticed any difference in your stopping ability. I would bet you have no idea what anti lock brakes are or how to use them.
I would bet the same to those who are here. Anti lock is the biggest racket out there. If you go see a "mechanic" they will possibly disconnect the light and tell you they are fixed. You will never know the difference and they will pocket some big bucks.
Just forget it don't get ripped off I have never heard of a REPUTABLE shop. If they are out there they need to let us know who they are. I love to go to a shop with a rigged problem and see what their diagnosis is.

You need to take it to a shop as soon as possible. It may be air in the system, shoes or pads wearing out BUT the light will also come on IF you have a leaking hose or cylinder.

That could be dangerous. Good luck. Pops

Comment: Tronary is wrong!! The Anti-lock system and it's warning light is VERY important. The system is also called "Anti-skid" system and it prevents your wheels from locking up, (sliding) and making you do tail spins in front of BIG 18 wheelers. Pops

The cheapest thisng to do first is replace the speed sensor in the rear end housing. Very easy to replace and a part that will run around 15 to 20 dollars at the dealer. Remove the 1 bolt that holds it on at the top of the housing and 1 connector with 2 wires and pull it out and install new one. These are very common to go out.

if the anti-lock light came on, chances are there's something wrong w/ the anti-lock system. Maybe it doesnt' work or maybe there's a malfunction. Also, maybe it needs to be replaced, or maybe it can be fixed. Either way, you should get it checked out, b/c the computer system in your car is telling you that they may not work when you need to use them.

You would have to bring it to a mechanic to check it. This model it would probably be the rab valve, this vechile I wouldn't worry about it. People think if abs light comes on the brakes will fail, but it just means antilock is working correctly
