I have fairly bad facial skin, and a friend recommended i try eating more fruit, but in smoothie form rather than salads etc.Is this a good idea and are there any good recipe sites for fruit smoothies out there?Id like to be able to have them sweet without adding sugar.
Also what combinations work and dont work?

Yes... I do this all the time. I do on occasion make milk or yogurt based ones... but more often I prefer dairy free for smoothies.

Just just put whatever combination of fruit that I want into the blender. Some of my most used ones are cantaloupe, apples, pears, kiwi fruit, any stone fruit when in season, blueberries, strawberries... For any fruit where the skin is edible, I don't both pealing them.

I then add equal parts of any pure fruit juice, and any sweet, yet sugar free, soda drink eg. sugar free Sprite. You don't need a great deal of either... probably just under a cup for each.

Absolutely, why not, it's a much easier way of consuming fruit if you're not a fan of actually eating fruit, I'm with you all the way here .... !!!

Easiest way is to buy a smoothie from a juice bar but if you don't have one nearby or don't want to pay the inflated prices for the convenience of having someone do it for you then you will need a blender but they are pretty cheap these days (about = to 5 juice bar bought smoothies in my calculations !!!!)

Most recipes include bananas which are fairly sweet & natural yoghurt to bulk it out & some people add honey to sweeten the recipe, depends on your taste, I've done loads with strawberries, raspberries & bananas & yoghurt & never added sugar or anything - there are millions of websites on the subject, here is just one to get you started

Totally recommend them. I was never a big fan of breakfast cereals or toast so used to skip breakfast quite a lot. When i started at a gym I used a personal trainer who sorted out a nutrition plan for me. This included a friut smoothie for breakfast every day. Wow - super yummy and gave me a real lift in the mornings.
I used to squeeze out the juice of an orange into a blender then add strawberries, apples, pears, bananas, melon, lemon, grapes (seedless), raspberries, peaches, nectarines and plums. Not all at one but a mix of 2 or 3. Grapes and kiwi dont work too well because of the seeds.
If you add ice it makes it more like a slushy and you can add milk to make a milkshake. Also vanilla icecream works well if you fancy a treat!!
Ask your local greengrocer if they will do a weekly fruit box for you.

Fruit is full of natural sugar and isn't going to do anything to help your skin.

Kimmer of the Kimkins Diet has a forum about skin care. She's 48 and looks 28!

I think she would probably recommend that you clean your face twice a day, use Retin-A cream to get rid of acne and exfoliate 3-4 times a week.

If you want vitamins, taking supplements is way better than extra calories from smoothies!

hey there smoothies are a good source of getting your vitamins if you use all sorts of fruits and veggies. although drinking 4 pints of water a day for 2 weeks is cheaper and you should get the skin back in shape. be careful of what fat you eat if you check out the calorific content on your foods stay away from food high in saturated fat as this is we call bad fat. the good fat is monounsaturated and polyunsaturates.
