guys dont want girls to be thier friends. There is that rare occasion but 99.9% of the time you become friends after a long time of not seeing each other. Kiss it good bye cause Ya'll is DONE

Hate to say it, but "Let's be friends" is just their way of trying to be kind. I'm not saying that they hate you or anything like that, but whenever anyone says that, the "friendship" lasts all of about a month or so, and then it's kaput. Sorry.

I think it's fine. It means that he doesn't want to date you anymore but he still wants to be friends and hang out. Thats all. He just doesn't want you completely out of his life.

I agree - it's just a standard phrase. It doesn't mean anything other than he really doesn't want to see you anymore. He doesnt hate you, but he just wants to go his own way.
