Is there a possibility that it's what you are drinking specifically. If you're having a big night and really getting on it... and your mixer happens to be a Cola drink (eg. your drink of choice is say scotch and Coke, bourbon and Coke... etc...), maybe the combination of caffeine and alcohol does that to you.
It could be the same deal with all the additives in premixed drinks, often made with vodka or Bacardi... the kind that are bright red, blue, orange etc...
I'm just as much of an energizer bunny (and a bit of a worry) drinking bourbon and Coke, or Raspberry Vodka Cruisers. I'm pretty much like anyone else though if I stick to say Bacardi and soda with a dash of lime, or scotch and water.

Alcohol is a system depressant, and although you may feel faster, you really aren't. What you feel is the result of alcohol's effect on the other portions of the brain, especially dealing with inhibitions. Alcohol tends to lower our ability to regulate our actions and lowers inhibitions to behaviors we would ordinarily control. It makes some people quiet, some broody, and some gregarious. If you were tested under the influence, you would discover your reaction times were just as affected as everyone elses. You just happen to be the gregarious type drinker, that's all.

Alcohol reacts different with different people's chemical reactions. You should be concerned about more than just that though. People who regularly drink alcohol are likely to become alcoholics, to do things that they will regret later and die from liver disease. I know it seems like fun now but it will take it's toll on your life if you continue.

All drinks/alcohol converts to sugar, that's why you have a sudden burst of energy. Even though you keep drinking you still "crash" from the sugar high.
Not sure about the smoking.

What I've noticed is that people who get all energetic usually drink as a confidence booster. So the more confidant you feel the more "zippy" you become!
