I was searching for pumpkin pie recipe too and saw your question and got my answer, but I needed to know how to cook the pumpkin.... so I'm posting it; just in case you were looking for it too....
Boil: Halve the pumpkin; remove seeds, pulp, and stringy portion. Cut into small pieces and peel. Cover with lightly salted water; boil for about 25 minutes, or until tender. Mash, purée in a blender or food processor, or put through a food mill.
and a 5 lb. pumpkin should give about 4 cups of mashed pumpkin.

Get a can of Libby's pumpkin at the grocery store. It really is the best and then just as a dash more cloves then it calls for. You can't go wrong. And don't forget the whipped cream.
