Best option would be to have all troops with drawl but not leave....just regroup like 50 miles west of town. And then stay there and let the Iraqi police and all take over.
Sure it will be bad at first but over a few weeks they will gain control and the terrorists will realize we are not around anymore. As they stabilize we slowly ship troops home.
If after a few weeks it doesn't get better but worse....then our troops are still out of harms way but in the area. We then send in another 50-100k troops and just walk thru the town on a mission of "cleaning house".
no politics, no politically correct movements....clean house....you hold a gun...we kill you, period. Collect all arms we can on the sweep through and after wards again go back to the base 50 miles away and allow the Iraqi army/police to try it again.
our presence in the peoples eyes is what is causing much of the up rise. Think simple....how would you feel if we had Russian troops here cause they came to say throw Bush out of office for us. After awhile we would start to throw rocks at them, shoot at them, make up road side bombs, etc to get them out of our country. No different for the Iraqi's.

That question just boggles the mind. It illustrates just what an Orwellian world we've been living in in the past six years.
Why were we in Iraq in the first place? WMDs. No WMDs. Why did we have to stay there then? Well, to spread democracy and our wonderful values of course.
They don't seem to want to be free. They shoot at our troops and would rather blow themselves up than be 'free'. What's going on here? Why, they must be terrorists. Remember, that's why we were there in the first place. War on terror.
WHAT ?!?!??!
Here's what happened in reality: We starved a people for 20 years with 'sanctions'. Sanctions, for some reason, included consumer goods, but not conventional weapons for Saddam's army. Then we bomb the place and we're surprised we're not greeted like heroes - as far as the Iraqis are concerned, U.S. troops are not a lot better than Saddam Hussein's troops. We just support a different tribe, that's all.
So the U.S. makes a complete mess of the place, the prez says we've got to stay the course, right until the end of October where, for some reason (elections) he suddenly becomes a moderate and is 'open to discussing options'.
Iraq is a case of you broke-it-you-bought-it. I think we've done enough. If George had half a spine and a conscience, he'd come crawling back to the U.N. for help. Maybe, just maybe, they have a chance to fix our mess.

Let's just declare victory and get out.
You're right about escalating hatred for America. It doesn't seem like any good has been done during the past few months. We're just irritating people.
Instead of spending so much money trying to help people who don't want our help, we should put that money to good use in a country where the people are begging for assistance.

Do you quite not comprehend the answer to that question. If this u . s . a . is surpassed over to that loopy McCain than we would all be screwed. Obama's the in basic terms human being who can deal with this mess! heavily we want to get the hell out of center east and go away those human beings on my own to their miseries. Our own infrastructure is so tangled up and such diverse organic failures occurring contained in the states that we quite should not be apprehensive about what the hell is occurring in center east. i want troops abode and Obama's the only i'm vote casting for!

The insurgents still know the more they keep at it, the more frustrated we will be. Why do you think they're doing this and according to alot of comments, it seems to be working. We still need to step-up our measures for training so they can eventually control their own country. We can't just say,"Hey, we're not getting anywhere and they hate us anyway so we're leaving!" That's not the American way. Don't they teach that in History class anymore?

Well, you have to start with where we are. It is not in our interest to let Iraq desend into another Afgahnistan. So that leaves you with hanging in there till the Iraqi military and government can handle things themselves.
Sitting back and waiting to be attacked is not a defense, its suicide. How do you tell the families of those killed by a terrorist attack. Well, we thought it would be best to wait till after they attacked us. Wake Up. They already have attacked us. I say we hound them to the ends of the earth, and give them no sanctuary.

I am a General of Chess anyway. I say lets change the rules and let Black move first. Other bad comment, lets make friend with North Korea and tell that ugly guy to do the testing in Irak, or tell Chavez to move all the Citigo gas station to Irak.

The first option is the best. Iraq is a lost cause and our people are getting slaughtered more every day. Even if the Iraqui military and government worked properly, there will always be civil unrest. I say let them kill each other without being in the middle. We no longer have a place there.....)(

We need a none of the above.
But one thing should be clear, when your in a hole you ought to stop digging.
1) you have to defend that statement of how the Iraq policy is offense. None of the bombers were from Iraq.
2)catch terrorist - how many are we training and causing to become terrorist. How do you think the kids growing up are going to view the country that killed their parent(s).

Okay, other countries hate America...period. Which is bafflilng to me. We may have caused destruction through acts of war but, we have always been there to try to help them pick up the pieces. I feel we NEED to set a date. This never-ending patrol has to have an end. For everyone. This country needs to have the gumph to do things on their own. It's not like we went in there, tore it all up and into uproar and bailed. Iraq has had plenty of time.
It's like having children. If they know you will be there to fix everything, they aren't as concerned for being responsible and independant.
