I asked a similar question a few weeks ago, and found that basically it is because they feel it isn't worth the time or the effort.

I went away feeling disappointed for a time, but came to realize that it doesn't have to be that way for ME. I would say to you that it isn't a case of it being "hard", it just has to do with diminishing standards in our society as a whole, but as long as people (and I hope because you asked this question you are one of the them) keep putting forth effort, to some extent, the English language will remain vibrant and communication clear.

The English language is the most complex language in the world. We have more words for one meaning than any other language. And vise versa. So a word could sound one way to someone from east India, or china, or some place like that and be spelled a completely different way.

Also hear is a thought.... Did you know that a lemon is a lime in Mexico, and a lime is a lemon? Its true! And that Christmas is celebrated on the 24th instead of the 25th.

Its culture differences, dialect differences, as well, as enunciation differences that make English one of the hardest languages to learn, speak as well as read and write if you are now raised with it.

warning could have errors: i think of we could continually blame instructors. I wrote papers each and all the time in severe college. i might basically ever use spell verify. It became no longer till I have been given into college that i found out how undesirable my writing quite became. I even have worked complicated to do my maximum suitable to artwork complicated and use each and all the grammar potential I even have discovered by out the years. I quite have a thought that the reason people do no longer study as lots is by using the fact while they do study it is undesirable. people study commercial and cyber web undesirable grammar everywhere. SO why could they they assume to any extent further suitable from a e book. Plus there's a important purchase greater in books then there are in a myspace message, or a demonstration for meals. so why each and all the attempt. nicely all it is in simple terms an thought that I even have arise with. i'm undecided how real it is, notwithstanding it quite is the reason at the back of the pointy declinein grammar skills.

The American educational system is in the dumpster. Children are passed to the next grade without learning the fundamentals.

Universities lower standards so that minorities can qualify (UCLA for one), instead of offering remedial courses to bring these people up to a first class level, for a first class university.

Schools are accredited which shouldn't be, based on wealth and religion.

Too many school aged children come from families with no education, and no desire for their children to learn. AND English isn't considered as important, as music, religion, "being cool", and learning the welfare system to whole groups of Americans.

GGGAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR! I so know what you mean. As far as English not being a person's primary language, while that's understandable in many cases, it's still difficult to decipher what the heck they are talking about.. but more aggravating is what they're even ASKING. Four nouns in a row do not make a comprehensible SENTENCE, let alone an answerable question. Sheesh. Plus, doesn't yahoo have different sites for different languages/countries? While I know a little bit of German, I certainly wouldn't go to the Germany site and post questions and hope to elicit any answers of value. Nor would I even attempt to answer any of the questions posted there.
OK... I think I'm done with my diatribe now. Thanks for the chance to vent!

Maybe because they have English as a second language and the fact that they can even make sense of it is a monumental accomplishment you're too dumb to appreciate. I would like see you typing and speaking perfect Spanish, Russian, French, Korean, Japanese, Portuguese, Thai, or Hindi. You better put yourself in other people's places before judging them.

I totally agree with 'musica'! You are too arrogant and that is characteristic of people who are not very smart! Sorry, but it's not nice to behave that way to people you don't know!
You know, English is not the only language in the world, but that is not the reason that people from different countries shouldn't communicate!

For many on this site, English is not their first language.

For others, they are still in school and are still learning proper English.

And let us not forget to mention the pathetic public education system here in the U.S., that allows people to graduate after 12 years of schooling without having learned basic writing skills.

As for me, I'm a lousy typist, so I make many typographical errors. I do try to catch them with the spell-check; however, some do get missed.

Some people English is a second language. Most though are just stupid and I wonder how they figured out how to turn on a computer. Unless welfare gave them a helper monkey to turn on the PC for them.
