It all depends on what type of arthritis you have - there are many. You should get this advise from a doctor. I have Rheumathoid arthritis and take specialist drugs for this disease as well as Glucosmine. Glucosomine lubricates joints and helps to build cartlidge and has found to be very effective for osteo-arthritis sufferers. I use it and have found to be of great help.

There is a supplement called "Move Free" that contains Glucosamine and Chondroitin. This supplement has helped me greatly in the past several years. Like you, I have arthritis mostly in my fingers. My fingers would hurt so bad I could not even pick up a pencil to write. After using Move Free, my arthritis pain has been 95% less. I hardly suffer from the pain anymore.

I use Aleve. I have tried a lot of over the counter pain meds, but this one works best. I also take Tramadol if I know I will be on my feet a lot. I have osteoarthritis in my hips.

Vioxx, but some idiot ODed on it and now the rest of us have to suffer. Try ibuprofen, it's an anti-inflammatory which could be helpful.
