I met the love of my life nearly 12 years ago. We seperated through long distanse. I didin't have a pc back then. I got re-connected with this guy through Skpe. It was great until he left his web-cam on and after a night out with his mates he was bad-mouthing me and i saw and heard it all

Hon it was not the distance it was the jerk! I would not want to be with a man that was like that. If he talks you down he has no respect for you anyways. I myself am seeing a guy in KY and I am from OH. I am going to see him for a week this next week. I will then see him again on Thanksgiving then New Years Eve. We text each other everyday & talk on the phone after hours. If you find someone that loves you as much as you love him then distance is not a issue. If things go right with me & him I am looking to move there next summer. Talk about things that bother you right away before you make any big steps. Good thing you found this out before you up & moved to where he is. We have some things to talk over, but we are willing to talk them out next week when I go see him. This will make or break us. It has nothing to do with distance it has to do with differences. Don't give up hope & don't rule out distance just because of one man.

The whole idea of a relationship is so you can have someone there with you and keep you company and just do general things together. When the person lives far away a relationship doesnt make much sence. You could stay friends but as for a relationship it wont work. When the cats away the mice will play.
Its kinda hard to make out with a pc on a cold winter night. And he'd have to have a laptop to take you to see a movie.

The key word here is "companionship". How can anyone carry on a relationship with someone who is miles away? If you are young, you still have many opportunities waiting to be explored. You will get very tired and frustrated sitting at home alone on the weekend nights while your friends are all out enjoying themselves. It sounds like your "love of your life" is a user so best to go your own way and enjoy life while you can. If you are older, you should know that long distance relationships never works no matter how hard you try to be true.

Long distance relationships don't work because you two aren't together. You heard your guy bad mouthing you why stay with him. Move on to something better. I am sure there are a lot of guys that are a lot more interesting at are local. Having a long distance relationship makes you miss out on what is just in front of you.

I believe in love. Love means commitment towards each other whether you are within arms-reach or miles away. To me love is sacred. Heart, soul and body are lived for our other half. Perhaps, I'm being idealistic. But, that's how I believe it should be. If you can't restrain your physical needs, you should find some ways to get together. You if hit at another close available, you are no better than animals. If you start looking for another close by, then they is no respect for the love you have committed. That's my believe. Than the big question is : Is that gal/guy worthy of you? Is he/she worthy of the pain you feel?

I am currently in such a "relationship". We talk on Skype, text & IM daily. There are no webcams involved. This has gone on for three years now and we have only met two times. As a red blooded hetero male, this situation has never made me inclined to cheat on my far off lady. I fully intend to wed her when circumstances permit. Faith & perseverance is key! And love.
Death to webcams! They are not healthy things to have in one's home. Another lady (just a friend) recently went in her daughter's bedroom to change out of wet clothes & was horrified to see herself on the PC!
Anyhow, ask yourself the question. How can he still be the love of your life? You will find better.

Mine did.

My wife of 6 years lived in America. Me in the UK. For 3 years before we got married we were basically a couple.

Both sides have to work at it and it takes a lot of long phone calls and expense.

As for web cams being left on. Maybe he did that on purpose to save him the trouble of ditching you personally. The coward!

Well it sounds like you had more of a comment than a question.
Anyways, long distance does not work because you dont get to see each other on a regular basis. Unless your loaded with cash and can afford seeing each other via airplane or train. Its a huge part of being with some one. And people tend to be impatient and dont like waiting around.

I CAN ANSWER THIS ONE BEEN THERE, DONE THAT. ITS BECAUSE ITS TOO EASY TO DO WHATEVER YOU WANT AND 9 TIMES OUT OF 10 THE OTHER PERSON WONT FIND OUT. UNLESS YOU HAVE PEOPLE THERE THAT WILL CONFIRM TO THE OTHER WHATS GOIN ON. AND YOU ARE USUALLY TO FAR AWAY AND YOU GET TO WANDERING WHAT THE OTHER IS DOIN , THEN YOU MISS THE OTHER SO MUCH, BUT THEY CANT BE WITH YOU SO THEY LOOK CLOSER TO HOME, FOR WHAT THEY CANT HAVE WITH THE OTHER PERSON.ITS ESPECIALLY HARD IF YOU TWO DONT SEE MUCH OF EACHOTHER OR NONE AT ALL.PEOPLES LIVES HAVE TO GO ON REGARDLESS.
