it is "popularly" known that religion make people feel more united between themselves. and of course, God itself.
But... you people dont think that maybe religion is just another wealth business that fools people telling them who to pray and stuff like that? maybe the church is fooling everyone to its own benefit... and a very few people know the truth...
if you think deeper into this... you can see through all history... religion is practicaly the principle cause for all racism and consequently WAR.
maybe is something behind all this that most people dont know... or maybe society is so much sticked up with all this that they dont even listen to another point of view. demonstrating the huge ignorance within us...

what do you think about religion? (please, be real... dont try to make it sound glorius and blah blah... we dont live like that... be realistic)

(humans are so predictable... including me of course, im not that special lol)

anyway, thanks for those people who take some minutes of their time to write on this. it was very nice to see it.
ahh i almost forgot... big part of the answers are just great. some of them are neutral and some of them are agree. i dont like to get into people believes and try to make them change. im not saying that i know the whole truth as someone said earlier (idiot... sorry i have to). it just that im peacefull about what i think and i hope people find theur own through theirs believes.

thanks. ill pick the best shortly.

Giuseppe, or is it Padre Giuseppe? Who is "We" in "we dont like that"?

Anyway, I have read alot of material which is fascinating and very revealing about "God" and the hereafter. The books I have been enlightened by are books about life after death stories. First I read about Near Death Experiences (NDE) and then moved on to communications with the dead.

I not only beleive in a hereafter, but beleive NOW in God and in our spirits moving on to another plain.

Having said that, I now realize that there are so many religions who are partially on the right path. Jesus and those communicating with us from beyond all say we must love one another, and yet, we envoke wars upon each other.

Churches have clearly taken sides with countries and have been divisive and instrumental in creating wars. Also, churches have become a business as well. A far cry from what we are supposed to be about as human "spirits" who are to move on to another spiritual plain when we die.

On the one hand, we have a very spiritual God and many angels and guids ready to help us when we ask for it, and guids to help us through the transition to the hereafter, and on the other hand, we have what over the years churches have become.

Churches have become divisive, political, manipulative and controling of the populace. This charictization is referred to as "religion" today. Not in my book.

Giuseppe, I hope this answer wasnt too "glorious and blah, blah" for you. Its an important subject, you should expect serious answers.

I'm guessing you haven't been to any of the small, mobile churches out there that are struggling to pay rent each week. Some meet in schools or pole barns owned by the very people attending. Church goes on with or without money. The church isn't the building or the business, it's the people. It's easy to look out and see the mega-churches and think skeptical thoughts. It's probably not easy to actually go visit a few smaller churches. You might want to give it a try. See if you still feel the same way.

I don't believe in religion or being religious, this is what turns many people off and away from God. It makes people of any religion self-righteous or holier than thou attitude.

What I do believe in is living a Godly, moral life, being spiritual (being filled with joy, peace, wisdom, etc.) helping others any way I can with the abilities, talents, and gifts I was born with.
Ignorance which almost always starts at home comes from the leadership of parents or lack of which children experience either positive or negative attitudes towards other people who are different or who have different beliefs causing racism. Children learn many things from parents at a very early age.

WAR is not always justified but sometimes it is very necessary just like the war against Britain just before the 1st thirteen colonies were founded in this nation, then later the civil war, World War I, World War II (Remember why?, read your history again its important that you know and understand)
I hope my answer was helpful, as it was honest as it possibly could be.

I think it is real and I don't subscribe to giving money or watch the tv evangelist, or anything. I just believe my relationship with God is my business and between God and myself. I don't believe anyone can tell me how to feel or what to believe.

I do think however, that evil people have made money a bigger issues than "believing" and that those people are wrong for taking people's money so they can have nice houses and planes and clothes.

I agree that more people should LISTEN to one another about the broad religious beliefs out there. You can stand firm in what you believe and still respect the person for what they choose to believe. I am sick and tired of people "bashing" beliefs they don't agree with or even UNDERSTAND. I try to be open, but keep in my heart what I believe. Who knows we could be all wrong in what we believe....that's why it's by FAITH.

I do believe that people are jaded by "human thoughts". Preachers, priests, and other religious persons put their own twist on what they are teaching.

SO that's what I think. We should just all be upstanding citizens, who are loyal, truthful, kind, and giving. That's what makes a good person - that's what more people should focus on - instead of what "religious group" you are attached to because apparantly, the "religious" part isn't working...or this world would have been fixed a long time ago......

Hmmm, to state this scientifically or just from a human perspective. Either way is equally viable. I would say that your assertion that "religion", as you term it, is a unifying force in the world, and has been for as long as creation has been around.
Is it a wealth business...doubtful except in certain religions...or televangelists. True religion is about helping the needy, thus you have an identifying mark for the difference between true faith in God and a business venture.

Your assumption that people are ignorant, or misled because they follow God, and His precepts is based on little or nothing. The vast majority of early historians, and scientists came from religious circles, as well as being the center of most education for thousands of years.

The cause of racism? Hardly. Racism is born of your own perceptions of others, its not a taught understanding, except in the case of parental or societal schooling. Most 'religions' teach acceptance, it is society that teaches racism.

I find your willingness to lay this at the feet of 'religion' more biased than anything religion teaches. Perhaps you ought to study your history with more objective views, than bringing your preconceived ideas to the table before you have learned anything.

The real irony is, if people really followed God, and the real principles of His Word, none of that would ever have been the problem that it is. Religion has become the problem, because everyone has turned away from the real teachings of Jesus, and insists that their religion is the only right one. That's over-simplifying things of course, but most of the problems in the world would be lessened if fewer people tried to force their own beliefs on others.

Well I'm pretty sure after the bible was written it was pawned off on ebay. Dude yes the Catholic church was after money but so is every other corporation on Earth. Let me break it down for you. Humans want power. Money is power. Humans want money. It's the way things were and always will be. Don't just pin this on religion.Oh and actually religion isn't the root of racism it's the ignorant way people think. Yes religion is the cause of some wars but MOST wars are fought bcause of power. I think you need a refresher course in History.

I don't think the wealthy would contrive a religion that says "it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven." But wealthy people definitely exploit religion, picking out verses that suit the way they want to indoctrinate people (like Methodists making people scared of going to Hell... or is that Baptists? eh, who cares...). Why do you think the Catholic church tried to execute Martin Luther when one of his suggestions was that the Bible be translated from Latin and be made available to everyone... the Bible is rife with verses against these sorts of people you speak of. If only people who are taken in by that kind of BS that is propagated throughout our culture would actually read it...

I think you are one step away from finding the Truth.

You are right. Spiritual warfare is the strongest and longest contention in the history of man. Why? Because God will never give up on allowing us a chance to be redeemed. And Satan will never give up trying to deceive us into complacency until the promised time.

God loves us. Satan hates us.....war.

Religion has been used by the leaders of countries to cause the people to move in a political direction. Just because it has been used in such a manner does not negate it as a belief sysem be it true or false

That which is true that believe !!!!!!!!!!

In 2 Timothy read the following .

Chapter 3
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.

13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

THERE IS HOPE FOR EVERYONE INCLUDING YOU
