Well, Islam came to being into Arabia, a land with no main religion at pre-islamic times. You ask this in the view that where christianity appeared there was already judaism, but that was in what is now Israel, Islam came to be in Arabia. Before that, Islam didn't exist.

People who lived in pre-islamic times were something you may call pagan, as they worshiped spirits that supposedly lived in rocks and tree trunks. The Kaaba in Makkah, built by Abraham several centuries before Muhammad, was decorated with idols. Muhammad removed them and stablished Islam. After a year of his death, Islam was spread across all Arabia.

There was Judaism and Christianity. Islam came down as a renewal of God's message that was originally delivered to mankind in both these great religions.

However, you must remember that Islam always existed, from the time of the creation of Adam. People who submit their will to God are called "Muslims" by the Arabic meaning of the word, so in reality, all the great Prophets of Judaism and Christianity were also considered Muslims in Islam.

Even though the brothers were dead and were not enemies, the people differed and were insecure and wanted to be accepted like a new kid in school. Every single monotheist religion is based from Abraham the Hebrew God. It does not matter if you call him Jehovah , Buddah, Allah, etc., because he aint listening, In order to speak to him you must call one name Jesus and he is not God he is the son of God. So all of this is ridiculous. Jesus told you that how many times? God is fed up with us he needed a buffer so he sent his only begotten son. Muslim is great but get real who was Muhammed???? who is Buddah???? God has no race creed or color, but at the time he put his son in the body of a man which represented his named chosen people, so what Jesus taught everyone it doesnt matter.

Ok. The Muslim version is that Islam was the word of God all along, since the creation of heaven and earth. They say that all prophets (and they believe Jesus was just a prophet)carried the same basic message. The literal meaning of Islam is to accept and put one's trust and fate only in the hands of the one and only God.

I'm going to try to explain this. Islam is the religion of Abraham,
Christians and Jews named themselves. When the final prophet of God came, he finalize the religion of Abraham and named it Islam, and the followers Muslims. Islam is the submission to God.
Christianity, Judaism, and Islam are so much alike because they are the same religion. The Quran was send down to clear up the distortion that had accumulated over time by people not upholding their convent with God. So after the final prophet of God came to finalize the religion of Abraham, he revealed to humanity that this religion's proper name, the worshiping of him, is to be called Islam. Jews and Christians are called "People of the Book" because they reject some of the revelations of God and his prophets. Muslims accept the entire revelation of God.
