Orlando is a great place but expect long lines at Epcott , Disney, Seaworld etc during the December Holidays. Miami and Fort Lauderdale attract lots of honeymooners with the additional attraction of Luxury Cruise Liners. Both beaches have plenty of sunbathing during the day, and partying at night. Hialeah (close to Miami) is notorious for random violence and is best avoided.
People seeking quiet time try St. Petersburg , Clearwater or St. Augustine. Holover beach north of Miami, is listed as "clothing optional" and attracts lots of sun worshippers on Sundays.
When driving in Florida, one needs plenty of quarters to pay at the toll booths.

At least you're sensible and going at a good time of the year. It's not quite so hot and humid then. I used to live on the west coast but when I wanted somewhere special, I went to Ft. Myers to Sanibel Island. That's a real pretty spot and they have nice wide open beaches with plenty of seashells.
