My school is having a dance where the girl asks the guy out, and I'm running out of guys to ask. So I decided on this guy who is a year older than me and goes to my school and also my tutoring center on the weekends. He's very nice and I've spoken to him before to introduce myself. But... that's the only time we've ever had a conversation. At most I sometimes call out his name when I see him and wave hello.

So now I'm going to ask him to be my date for the dance. Is that too weird, considering that we're almost strangers? What do I do if it turns out he has a girlfriend? Or what if someone already asked him??

You two aren't strangers and you two can get closer if you go together. You'll never know if you don't ask! Don't let opportunities pass you by. You won't get anywhere in life if you wait for things to be handed to you.

Well you never know until you ask :) Just try and bring it up casually, like "so are you planning on going to the dance?" and see what he says. Ask him the next time you are at the center- and take it from there. That way you find out if he already has a date without really risking anything. And if he says he DOESN'T have a date, that's when you should for sure ask. It is a "girl ask the guy" sort of dance, so you shouldn't feel weird at all.

If you have a tutoring session with him again before the dance, try to ask him a few questions to get a background on him. Ask him if he has a girlfriend and if any girl has asked him to the dance yet. If not, go for it; there's nothing to lose.

Go girl! ask him for a date, you take the first step!
Strangers, NAW! you'll get to know eachother better.
gurlfirend,so? you're not doing anything bad, it's just a school dance. and whut if somebody asked him out already? just say,"well, guess you don't have the time, it's okay i'll ask another guy"

He will be flattered that you asked him. He may have a gf, or already been asked, or he may not want to go because he hates music and dancing, you cant know till you ask, and he can either turn you down or accept and go with you.

i say you should just go ahead. the worst is that he says no...it's not that strange just go up and be like hey, i know we don't know each other too well but was wondering if you'd like to go to the dance....and then see what happens! Good Luck!

Ask him if he wants to go for coffee first - a lot less pressure and all your other questions will be answered then.

Ask and you shall see, if he does a girlfriend, I'm sure you can find someone else.
