We took a bunch of chicken breasts out of the freezer, thawed them for 2 days, poked holes with a fork, then put them into a bag with italian dressing into the refrigerator... they have been in there for several days now.

We want to grill this but a friend told us you cant leave it in there that long, something about the dressing it makes it go bad...

Can anyone please help, dont want to get sick or anything.. should it still be good and how can we tell?

THANKS.

Try this step :-
1) Smell the item.( chicken)
2) If good smell, let see the colour of items..( chicken)
3) If good colour, It should be okey and still good.
4) Italian dressing, balsamic dressing, and vege dressing is non
hazardous potential food. It safe even you was soaked the
item.( chicken) for 2 weeks. But must on the right
temperature. ( 12 C and below ).
5) To make the item(chicken) become fresh and good, add the
italian dressing.( suggest add with a bit salt)
6) Now your item already to cook.!!!
7) It should be all right. Have your nice meal!

Several is kind of vague. I wont keep chicken in the fridge more than 2 days. But then again I got a nasty case of food poisoning and hated being alive for 3 days. I love chicken marinated in Italian dressing, but I only marinate it the longest is overnight. Better safe than sorry.

If in doubt, throw it out. A trip to the emergency room costs more than some chicken breasts.

That said, I have kept chicken breasts in a marinade (sake, ginger and salt) for five days, cooked it, and it was absolutely tender and just delicious. But, that was a simple marinade, and alcohol and salt act as preservatives.

I go with the smell it answer. If it's the *least* bit smelly (or you see *any* mold), or it's slimier than what fresh chicken and dressing is, throw it out.

If it smells bad don't cook it. But if you can find the expiration date of the original pkg (you could call the grocer with the date you purchased and find out what date all lke products exp date was on that chicken that day and go from there. And since you know when & where you bought it it sould be pretrty simple. Don't use it beyond 2 dates aftewr m,mfg sell by date

Chicken is tricky and should be thrown out after 48 hours whether it is marinaded or otherwise. The acid in the Italian dressing does break it down sooner.

does it still have that pinkish color/???

cook it now it may be fine.. if it smells throw it away

i worked for 2 pizza places (1 my mom owned) and we soaked our chicken in dressing it was fine..

chicken usually should not be left out more than a couple days..

but you might be ok, if it still is firm, pink and doesn't smell
