For about a year, I have been very sensitive to touch, and to what people have said, such as my name. For example, if a guy came up behind me and gently touched my waist, I would scream whirl around, and sometimes end up on the floor. Also, today, i fell asleep and a friend yelled my name to wake me up. However, I woke up screaming because i was scared. I was shaking and crying for a while. Anytime someone taps me on the shoulder or suprises me, I get scared, even if i know who it is, I'm scared. I'm just not sure what of.....Is this paranoia? or what? how can i deal with this????? its embarressing and it doesnt exactly help with relationships...

You may be suffering from PTSD. If you have had anything tragic happen in your past, it may be trying to come back to haunt you.
Sometimes (in my case) my fear was something I had suppressed.
It was years before I showed any signs. My current boyfriend noticed it and I never realized I did it but I would jerk, horrified at sudden hand movement. That was just one of many things that scared me.
It was through counseling that the memories surfaced and it was at that point I began, with help, learning to cope.
Please see a doctor.
Good Luck,
T

I would suggest you seek for help on a psychiatrist. You had somehow experienced a very tragic/ unusual incident that make you very scared or somehow acts a bit of paranoid. You seem to be very troubled that you think someone will gonna hurt. I'll advise to do please find a very supportive psychiatrist, the'll make you feel better and you can open up to them Just cooperate and keep the faith, trust everybody and everything would be alright. Goodluck!

Sounds like you are mentally ill and need to seek medical help. It is not normal to behave in this manner and if you get help you may understand you behave as you do and knowing why , you can work on solving the problem.

sounds like symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder

Is there anyone you can talk to about this?
teacher
school counselor

If it is very disruptive and interferes with your daily functioning, then I would for sure seek out some professional help. especially if it is getting worse.

I'm the same way though not as extreme. I jump whenever someone touches me and I don't expect it. I'm very high-strung. I'd see a psychiatrist or even your regular doctor so he/she can refer you.
