Why is it that a lot of Atheists critisize Christianity but not....?

Not Islam. I hear a lot of comments about how mislead christians are because some tell them they are going to hell. But as far as I know they haven't physically harmed them. Some muslims would behead them in the streets. Notice I didn't say all, just some.

Nearly every day at work I hear about how atheists should die, atheists aren't Americans, atheists should be kicked out of America, atheists are stupid, atheists are whores, and atheists are ruining our country - all from Christians. I have been hospitalized by Christians. I obviously haven't been beheaded by them, though. Does it take beheading before you are allowed to get annoyed?

We don't need to say anything about Muslims, it's already being said. If Muslims start evangelizing in my neighborhood, you can be sure you'll hear about it.

Athiests critisize Christianity because the Right-wing Fundamentalist Christian lobby hold alot of influence in the USA (which is where I assume you're from) while Muslims do not hold any political currency in the USA. Why critisize a people with NO POLITICAL POWER? Do you honestly think Americans are going to elect an Islamic President of the United States of America? Muslims don't behead people in Chicago, Illinois, or Little Rock, Arkansas. Only Iraq. Do you really care about Christians being beheaded in Iraq? Give me a break, boy..

I believe there is a double standard. I think it might have to do with the diversity issue, it's not PC and it's something besides Christianity. Also they know that muslims go all crazy when you dare attack their religion, remember Salmon Rushdie? Christianity is a force to be reckoned with. That's why it carries a huge target. And subsequentially, these diatribes and slanders thrown at us and at Him. But in the end we know wins right. Peace

Because everyone has to deal with Christians more often.

Because in America, it's Christians trying to inflict their beliefs onto everyone else, for the most part. You'll find that when it comes up (like with the Muslim cabdrivers refusing to transport someone carrying alcohol or Muslim parents trying to change how girls' gym is done in a public school), the atheists will stand up to and criticize them, too.

So, if you have a need to criticise someone for not thinking the same way you do, would you choose someone who will answer "God bless you"....or someone who might decide to behead you in the street??

I do. And I am much harder on Islam because I think they want to change our culture and they really don't care how. You will see more answers to Christians, because more Christians ask. I personally usually only respond, not ask.

actually your exagerating... aethists tend to criticize what they are familiar with... they criticize both. Although not as vocal as perhaps you wouldlike, many Moslems are very unpleased with the violence and have spoken out. You realize that often journalists who speak out too strongly dont live very long, so it is erally such a surpirize you dont hear more?


aethists are probably poorly equipt thought to deal with questions of religious world views and often attack not the view but the caracature of the view

frankly Chrstistians are often poorly equipt to speak the truth in love and hold out the gospel of God's glory to their Moslems neighbors... it isnt just aetheists

I see Islam critisized on here everyday. Also Christianity and Atheism. It's equal opportunity offending in here
