i cannot talk on the phone at all... the only person i realy feel comfortably talking on the phone to is my girlfriend, i can't book taxis because of the fear, is it because i need a face or something visual to look at?

Well it could be just that.
I would say you have a fear of the un-knowen....
You know your girlfriend....but when it comes to others, you feel this fear.
I will just say....do your best each day.Your not alone?

I work in a mens maxium security jail.
But, if you told me to go for a walk on the street?...forget get it.
Unless someone is with me....and No I do not live in America.
I live in Australia..
So go figure?????.....Just take one day at a time, and you do know your fear.
So, that means half the problem is solved.Try to take baby steps like me...and one day you and I shall overcome..our fears.o.k.

I hate talking on the phone too. I think part of the reason is because the moments of silence seem longer plus it is hard not being able to see the emotion on anothers face and that makes it hard to judge teh next action

Try to find services that have web sites. You can order just about anything on line. Or look into phone service for the deaf. They have some kind of keyboard and screen.

Well, you see, the problem is that you're using a dial-up connection on your PC and your phone is always busy. Wait...that's my problem. NM.
