I support the death penalty. If a person has committed a horrendous crime like torture, rape, and murder of another person, they should give with their own lives. The scripture I use to support this is when Jesus said, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." In Bible times, folks were stoned to death, killed by animals, thrown off mountains, and killed by the sword. When a killer murders and sexually abuses a child they have no feelings or pity on their victims. Jesus forgives, but the law doesn't.

Because we all die someday by either; car accident, plane crash, cancer, heart attack, a victim of murder, etc. I prefer to say I believe in Justice.
There are some individuals in our society that are beyond help, like Gacy, Dahmer, Ted Bundy who were all serial killers that killed many people just for the thrill of it and had no remorse for the most part from my understanding, except Bundy who did say he regretted what he had done.
Because God is a God of not only Love but also Justice, yes in that respect I do support the death penalty only if its justified in that particular person.

What would make the difference? In the pre-Christ days, you could even stone your children to death if they disobeyed or were unruly. There were many reasons for stoning. Adultry, stealing, lying all manner of things for less than what earns the death penalty today. This is not saying I am for or against it, but what else can you do to someone after you put them to death. To my way of thinking, it would benefit mankind more to sentence them to hard physical labor for the rest of their natural life.

Just look at the beginning of Genesis..."in the day that you eat of the (forbidden) fruit, you shall surely die." God, the Creator, imposed the penalty of death upon all humanity for the transgression of Adam and Eve. All die - for eating a fruit.

I do
Exodus 21
12 "Anyone who strikes a man and kills him shall surely be put to death. 13 However, if he does not do it intentionally, but God lets it happen, he is to flee to a place I will designate. 14 But if a man schemes and kills another man deliberately, take him away from my altar and put him to death.
15 "Anyone who attacks his father or his mother must be put to death.

Yes, "If a man takes another man's life, his life shall be required of him" (paraphrased from memory). God set up government to maintain law in a civilization, and one of governments responsibilities is to carry out this sentence.

I do, as long as it is done quickly and painlessly. The bible and scripture have nothing to do with it. I think it's more merciful than keeping them locked up for the rest of their lives.
