the poision that oftens threatens the purity of our hearts is lust. to lust is to crave something sexually that God has forbidden.
ex. as a single man looks at a women who is not his wife (which means every women) and immorally fantasize about her, he is lustingt.
even though society condones and expects it , we need to stop it. God states that when somone look at a woman/man lustfully, whether on the street, on a billboard, or in a movie, that peason is actually comming adultery with her/him in their heart (matthew 5:28)

I AM A 15 YEAR OLD GIRL
i rember the anger and disgust i felt wn i get hit on. i was outraged to have served as the object of thier lust, to have thier eyes crawling over me. it was so wrong, so filthy.
what is the porpose?

Lust is completely natural and definitely not evil. We as a species are designed to breed. Whether you act on that lust is a whole different matter.

In the animal kingdom they call it presenting...
It is all part of the human drive to reproduce. Back in Matthews day you used your status, strength and money to buy a usually young girl and some concubines and mate as often as you can.
Fat hips and big breast are the instinctive selection of a female for a mate that can Bear allot of offspring.
With war and famine you had to maximize your chances of caring on your household. And humans are kinda selfish so the needed a strong drive to survive their mistakes.
I think like fear using peoples natural response to mating is a powerful marketing tool. And could overstimulate men and woman. Censorship could be just as much a cause than a solution. If I censored the image of an everyday meaningless item like a stapler, people would long to see it and pay more attention to it? Creates more of a market for it.
I It is a very good choice for someone who is fifteen to be very cautious. This is a very complicated matter, and anger and disgust is the same side of the coin as lust. So don't be so quick to pass judgment. You have no clue of others customs and courtesies. Take heed of the Bibles teachings. And take your time when it comes to jumping to conclusions.

Hey hon. I'm 17 and often get some random comments and some looks by guys. It makes ME feel bad for them sinning. But I just want to let you know, that other than living your life for the Lord, dressing with modesty, and not being focused on yuor outward appearance, there is not much you can do about these boys' own hearts. My guess is that guys do it because it's what is expected of them. It's sad, but true. Just keep your heart right with the Lord and ignore it! Good luck

Oh...and I hate to break it to all these men who are talking about how lustful thoughts are not wrong. Jesus himself discusses it in the Sermon on the Mount. Basically, we are all sinners who are in need of God's grace and forgivness!

A lot of guys, especially young guys, have difficulty directing their thoughts in the right direction. Many well intentioned guys have tremendous struggles when they see a pretty girl showing her thighs or breasts in a provocative way. (whether she is aware of it or not).
They seem to be "creepy" because they can't help staring and desiring, and at the same time they are embarrassed and ashamed of themselves, and try to look as if they were not staring. Hence the creepy, shifty look.
Not to justify anyone, but girls could be a great help in guys' struggles, by being careful of how they dress.

It's hard to deal with stuff like this. I have the same problem. Although it is perfectly natural to think about sex, in excess, it can be harmful (like eating too much).

God created sex for us. It is supposed to be a way for married couples to bond to one another as well as produce children. Sex is good but only in the right context.

Just talk to God about the lustful thoughts; He'll help.

Ok i have read you view above and the problem is that your church pastor is not telling you the whole side of the story, and i will show you scripture for everything i say below, first of all back in biblical times you are right there was no sex before marriage because people got married at 13-14 years old when we started to reach puberty (see 1 Cor 7:36 in the KJV). make sure you view this scripture in the KJV because many translation get rid of the original meanings.....so people didnt have sex because young men and women didnt think about sex because they didnt reach puberty yet. the bible also teaches this scripture in 1 cor 7 too "it is better to marry than to burn" pastor often forgot to mention this too, now heres the problem the churches have decided to become like america and use american idea for marriage - for example american society does this new idea called "dating" - ask you pastor to find where dating is at in the bible? i bet he wont be able to find it. because it not mentioned it was created by humanistic people, or in other words humanistic peoples idea is: first date then french kiss then have sex no marriage neeeded just like the animals in nature (or darwins view). back in biblicals times the father arranaged marriage for their daughter and made sure the daughter had a good husband to be with (see Exodus 22:16) and 1 cor 7:36 teaches that father should not hold back marriages for anyone when a good husband is found even if she is only 13 years old. you will see what i mean about this if you decide to do a study on 1 cor 7:36.

secondly on matt 5:28 above that is talking about adultery, adultery is trying to steal and have sex with someone elses wife, no evidence of any thing else, in fact i just quoted that scripture "it is better to mary than to burn" so the bible is teaching that human sexuality is normal.. but today church like to live like america. and the bible in 1 John 1 teaches the church not to love the world or anything in it.

I read you letter on what you said about getting hit on and being looked at as being filthy, yes you are right but keep in mind that women lust too, they wear short mini skirts to church and pastor dont do anything about it, i thought churches teach to "flee fornicaation", doesnt seem to me that they practice what they preach, but yet these women want to tease every guy they see and lead them on, and make them lust after her, dont you think that disgusting too, i want to put all the card on the table here i dont like agendas in the church.

You're 15... I'm impressed. You're right, one of the ten commandments is not to commit adultry. Jesus taught us that if we look at a woman, to lust after her, we've committed adultry with her in our heart. This was to show us how high God's standards are. God gave us sex. But he gave it to us to have in the context of marriage. The more you live your life to please God and respect his laws, the better off you'll be. I wish I understood this when I was younger.

One important thing is to think about it now and prepare. How far is too far in God's eyes? And how do I keep it from getting there? Basically, don't wait for the fire to occur before you figure out how to put it out. Be prepared.

Who in the world is teaching you that crap? Love is a beautiful thing. I think you would want to lust after the man you may marry before you marry him. Dont turn your blood cold because someone tries to tell you human emotions are dirty. I love my husband and i will never be sorry for lusting after him before we were married or attracted same thing. We are the best of friends and very close. HOw can you feel gross when someone looks at you as if they are interested. You are not married so its not a problem

You go girl! lol I agree with you
Lust is addressed in the Scriptures to the men to watch this area. They are supposed to bring themselves under the control of the Holy Spirit, not their own lusts. They can look at women, but then they should look away. Christian men try to do this and give this area to the Lord, but men who don't have the Spirit don't have any help with it.
Some girls don't mind it, but I'm with you, I never liked to be treated this way and find it disgusting and rude. Show me a man with good manners and one that can control himself and this is my kind of man.

There is a difference than acting upon something and fantasizing about it. There is nothing wrong w/ it as long as you don't do it. And just because it says something in the bible doesn't make it right. The bible has so many different interpretations and a lot of things that make no sense in addition to the good things said in it. We are all human and it is human nature to sin.

what's "lusting"? The term potential to "covet" or "choose with purpose to thieve" undeniable and straightforward. it quite is interior the 10th commandment. So, Jesus replaced into quoting the "thou shalt no longer covet .. thy neighbor's spouse". So, extremely actually, Jesus first stated the seventh commandment, "Thou shalt no longer dedicate adultery", then he defined the theology in the back of the seventh commandment with the 10th commandment, "Thou shalt no longer covet .. thy neighbor's spouse". He replaced into showing how the persons of the day weren't watching the point in the back of the seventh commandment. So, in case you like to take your neighbor's sources, you're patently sinning at heart. besides the shown fact that, while you're admiring a clean activities vehicle your chum offered, you're actually not sinning (comparable is going together with his woman, employer, and so on). yet, we could say you quite cherished some thing he owned and you fantasized approximately it. could no longer that lead you to sinning? Stealing it in some way? So, God would not choose you to pass down that street of fantasizing approximately your neighbor's spouse or sources, because it is going to lead you to the sin ultimately. and because you adore God and choose God's will, it would shop on with you mustn't enable your self to pass down that street.
