Having someone read it to you at school or church does not count. How many of you who claim to know so much about the religion have actually read it's most holy book? I'm guessing the percentage is way below 1%.

Not in one sitting. I have read the Torah's, 1-5, all of the following
Job, Ruth Sam 1, 2, kings chro, est., Ezra. psa, prov., eccl, Solom,
Isaiah, All of the new testament KJV.

But then again I am theologian

In answer to your original question I have read many chapters and all of the Books above I have listed from the beginning to end. Those I did not list, I know pretty well as I have reads major parts.

Don't be so smug to put down those that quote the Bible, they most likely have read it. Where are you in the 99% that haven't yet.

Thanks be to God, I have read many Chapters. My favorite is the book of Psalms. I wish I didn't have to tell you this, but your percentage is way too low. The Holy Book is Great to read. The more you read the more you want to read. Try it! Start in the New Testement. It started when I was three years old. The Bible stories and verses. I Love it !!

I have and it was a slow process as I do not just read a book, I need to understand what I am reading.

It is easier now to read it after having done it before, and I still learn new things each time I read certain books in it.

Right now I am studying Romans, in which I read the whole chapter first and am now breaking it down into smaller sections for study and referring to other books that are talked about in Romans. Its a long process, but so valuable and such a blessing to understand new things each time I read it.

Thanks for asking!

Reading the Bible is not the right question.. you should ask "Who has studied the Word?"

To say you love God and not study His Word is deception at its best. What do we know about the Word? Start at John 1:1 Someone might say that you cannot love one without loving the other.

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

In laymens terms:

Would you have passed school without reading the books?

You grandmother gives you a nice thankyou card.. do you read it or toss it?

God had something to say. Do we love him enough to want to read and learn from His Word?

I am not badgering. ;-) God Bless!

Good question, I was confused about god a while back and was sick of hearing interruption's so I started to read the bible myself. I started with Mathew, mark, Luke and john then decided to start from the beginning at genesis. I'm now in the middle of exodus. And you know what? I've learned more in a couple of months than in all the previous 24 years of my life being preached to. I think everyone should read the bible on there own, god will grant them understanding.

I have read the entire Bible at least once all the way through, and continue to study it bit by bit, because I always see things I either missed before, or gain a new understanding of them.

I not only have read the bible for more than 30 years. Gen. thr Rev.
I have studied it, by chapters, verses, words, memorized it. Preached it . Ran referance, by through various books written by Holy men of god. Scholars of Divinity and more. I am constantly running reference, and continue my study of the word of God. I renew my mind daily, and the abundance of blessing never end. There is sometime new every morning! I read a scripture and I say I never saw that before. My mind is open to new things all the time.
So you see it is not a book. but the living word of god that manifests constantly.

Your statistic is not far off if by "read" you mean "comprehend". See, I have read and comprehended the simple message of Christ in the Gospels, and the behavior I see displayed by Christians on a daily basis is quite contrary to that message.

For instance,

Matthew 6:1 - "Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven."

is so often "overlooked" and forgotten by Christians that they all ought to hand in their WWJD bracelets.

and

6:7-8 “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him."

Ever been to a Christian church service? I guess they all think they know how to pray better than Jesus.

it's called HYPOCRISY, and it's very sad. The saddest part is that many of them are going to wake up in torment one of these decades and be like, "What the hell happened?"

Humility eludes the man who thinks that he has spiritually risen above his fellows. He who calls his brother a fool is in danger of hellfire. Ever known a Christian to refer to someone (or, even better) and entire group of someones as foolish (or insert synonym here)?

If Jesus were still dead he'd be rolling over in his grave.

Very good question and observation. I am a Christian. I have read and studied many books of the Bible on my own. I have also studied in classes.

However, I have also studied other religions and other books.

What is my end evaluation?

God is love.
