i have read your letter above daisy and you main message is to avoid negativity, why would we even look for a church or even God for that matter....if this world was beautiful and lovely and no killing and stealing and cheating and political people lying to us? but we know that earth is not heaven at all, in fact we know that america is had just as much evil as any other country - people are dirt poor while the rich are filty rich, we have a trillion dollar debt...if you want you can stick you head in the head and pretend that it doenst exist that your choice but that doent mean it will disappear..
i actually view this world as a lower version of hell, i can tell daisy that you dont read history that much i would suggest that you do and find out how evil this world really is and try to stop listening to all the propaganda on television, they just want to try to get you to believe that this world is lovely and beautiful, they are doing the same thing you are doing they are trying to ignore all the problems in this world, also read about how Joseph Stalin ceased power in Russia or how Adolph Hitler turn a democratic country into a dictatorship, that could happen today and america would be a totally different place today - imagine that all of your freedoms were stripped from you and you were sent to a concentration camp. and enslaved that could happen any time anywhere, and yes even in america too, if our constitution can be stretched so far to allow more law then it can be stretched further. take it or leave it all of this is reality ask you history teacher....Read about the 911 commission too, our governement is not telling you everything about the 911 attacks daisy! take it or leave it its up to you.

I think you need a church to bring you closer to God praise and worship can be a big part of Church but sermons vary from week to week I do not know of any church that only preach the nice aspects of Christianity. God is love but as a loving father he also has to punish and warn us of the consequence of evil. Good luck I hope you find a church you like.

I know where u are coming from, but first of all understand that there is no such thing as a perfect church. Second honestly ask yourself what are the most important things u are looking for in a church. (I believe you have done that for the most part)
Finally you go to church not so much for your comfort but for God to mold you, challenge you spiritually, and people there that are genuine and can show you true Christ-Like Love. The Bible sometimes says Truths that will hurt (as the saying goes; the Truth Hurts!) Heaven, hell, judgement, rewarding those that serve God should be preached but at the same time if thats all that church is preaching then I personally would not go there. I will pray for you, hope my advice helped.
-Blessings!

Sheesh, I would think that you would want a church where they teach both sides of the story. Life with Jesus is wonderful, but there is a hell too, and that does need to be talked about every now and then, after all it is in the Scriptures.
Just try some different ones out, give them a couple of weeks each tho, it's difficult to say which church would be best for you, as these days they're all so different. I went thru the same thing years ago, I had to go alone and try some out, you'll find one you like and that you feel comfy with.

It sounds to me like you are pretty negative about some churches but don't want to go to a negative church. So if you go to a positive church won't you make it negative? Sorry, I am not trying to insult you, only point out that there are negative and positive parts to Christianity, and to go to a church that wants to ignore truth that Jesus says is important and just sing songs and listen to positive messages and ignore the real issues is not a good idea in my mind. We are in a battle in this age, and the church doesn't need cheerleaders, it need warriors. I would encourage you to get into a church that is strongly Bible based and reaching out to the world. Singing is not a sign of a spiritual church.
Exodus 32:7 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, "Go down at once, for your people, whom you brought up from the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. 17 Now when Joshua heard the sound of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, "There is a sound of war in the camp." 18 But he said, "It is not the sound of the cry of triumph, Nor is it the sound of the cry of defeat; But the sound of singing I hear." God tells us in 1 Corinthians 10 that this is what will happen in the church in the end time before He returns. The church will fall away from the Lord and a singing church is one of the 4 signs that we have reached the end time.

Try a church that has the word Bible in the title. Those churches mainly focus on what the Bible says and strictly believe in the Bible without any tradition involved. You cannot go to a church that will never talk about sin or always be positive. Try visiting different churches multiple times during different times of the year. The time of year changes the services sometimes. Good luck!

What you described is the Catholic Mass. Lots and lots of praising the Father and the Son. We recieve the Body and Blood of Christ at mass.
To get an idea of what a sermon is like, go to http://www.wau.org/meditations/meditations.asp

The principle message of Christianity is GOOD news -- God's longing for relationship with us despite our cluelessness and violence and self-centeredness, and "coming down" (metaphorically speaking) to achieve that. That's pretty positive, no?
Mainline churches are not in the damnation business...we're not about trying to figure out who's off the bus, as my pastor likes to say, and we don't think that God condemning people is God's default attitude toward the human race. We believe that if you want to know what God is like, you look at what Jesus is like. And Jesus is about healing; about restoring people to wholeness; about including the excluded; about inviting us to share in his work of reconciling and restoring.
If that sounds good to you...you might find a happy home in a mainline denomination -- churches like the ECUSA, the ELCA, the UMC, the PCUSA, the UCC. If you google those acronyms you can find those denominational websites and learn more about them.

I attend a United Church and enjoy the messages delivered.
Try attending a few different ones and get a sense. Maybe search the internet for churches in your area to see what they post. Usually they'll have an archive of messages delivered to the congregations that you can read and see if you feel comfortable with what they are saying.
Good luck & God bless

Everyone has to worship God in the way that works best for them. The Methodist Church is the best for me. It is mostly positive and non-judgmental, while still teaching the Word Of God.
