I'm bringing my cat home for thanksgiving, but my mom is allergic. Is there any products anyone can reccomend to keep the dander down while I'm at her house? She's not deathly allergic, but it makes her really uncomfortable if cats are around constantly. She loves my kitty, and I want to help make her able to be around him without being miserable

I have been reading that the major cause of cat allergies is not so much the dander, but the saliva from the cat's self-grooming on the hair.
If that is true then grooming your cat should help.
Of course, stress from traveling will usually make a cat shed more too.

Your cat is very likely to want to hide since the surroundings will be strange. If you set up a 'comfort zone' for it in your bedroom, with food, water and litter box, it is a good bet the cat will stay in there without a fuss. Be sure to vacuum and clean the room well before you leave so your mom doesn't have to deal with an allergy attack then!

Groom your cat very well before you leave, give it a nice bath and brushing. When I bring my cats to other houses, they aren't very comfortable and pretty much stay in one room, you can try that, keep food water and his/her litter box there and he/she should be fine and it will help keep kitty dander down to a min for your mom. Good Luck KG

go to your vet and get the shampoo to keep the dander down and your mom just shouldnt touch the cat. and you should be fine for that short amount of time.

my aunt is allergic to cats too but she has them anyway. there is this allergy medication that your mom can take. she can ask her doctor. if she sheds alot, give her a bath like everyday and same with brushing her. i know they don't like water but it helps.
