I have read the Tao Te Ching and various stories from Hindu and Buddhist religions. i have even used these stories in teh Catholic religion class I teach. There is much truth to be found in other faiths.
A Brahman named Sangarava bathed every morning and evening in the river so that he could be cleansed from whatever sin he might have committed during the day.
To him, the Buddha said, "If bathing could purify one from sins, then all the frogs, turtles, and crocodiles would be free from sin! The real lake is the lake of goodness, with grace as its shore for bathing. Clear and undefiled, it soothes all who immerse themselves. Plunge into the waters of goodness and learn to swim."

A couple versions of the Bible Some of the Hindu stuff, the Epic of Gilgamesh, Greek Norse and Roman Mythologies. Parts of the Talmud, Some Caballistic stuff, Tao te Ching, scraps of Confucious. Egyptian Book of the dead, parts of Egyptian mythology. Mostly about Nut. All of it so long ago that it is barely remembered and likely mixed up. I can not recomend any of it for serious beliefs. But all of it for basic ideas. They thought about the world much different at all those other times so far in the past. They did not know much about the world but they were not stupid either. Things like the Idea from Hammurabi about the Eye for an Eye which is regarded as brutal and hardcore but back then was actually to limit retribution to an even payback and penalty. You did not murder a family and sell the children into slavery for a minor offence like had been common before. Or the Christian concept of turning the other cheek, the major reason the King of Iceland decreed it the national religion in a place risking depopulating itself through blood fueds, it was not because they needed a little baby God nailed on a couple of sticks..

I tried going to the Catholic church years ago, and then they read from another language and I didn't know what was going on! I tried reading about "Buddha" and meditating. I read the satanic bible only for a few lines and it scared me to death. When I became a Christian everything was different. I received peace, and have a personal relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I did try different religions thru the years, but this is the only one with such a personal relationship.

Being a muslim, of course I have read the quran. I have also read parts of the christian bible.
Both are very complicated books, this is very unfortunate because the result is that people with negative ideas can mislead people by explaining things in their favour.
