Your teacher's telling you a BFL, Big Fat Lie. Helium should NOT be huffed, puffed, inhaled at all for any reason. It causes brain damage & can cause you to have a heart attack or stroke.

Nope. Helium is inert, and doesn't do your heart any good. If you're going to inhale helium, be sure to mix in the right amount of oxygen. Back in the 1960s, people experimenting with "deep sea habitats" breathed a helium-oxygen mixture while living underwater, hoping it would reduce nitrogen narcosis.

Do what? Breathe it? You must have misunderstood her. Helium is not good for the heart or any other part of the body for that matter. It's not bad either. Helium is chemically inactive and doesn't affect the body one way or the other.

i dont know if it is good for ur heart but breathing too much helium destroys brain cells and it will kill u if u take in too much at one time cuz ur body wont have enough or no oxygen at all
if i were u i wouldnt do it often maybe evry now and then

It will speed up your heartrate. I thought I would be all cool and take in a bunch of helium. Lets just say that hours later, that decision did not rock.

Like anything else: too much of a good thing is bad. Be real careful of what you understood your teacher said. "According to medical experts, the gas can cause sudden acute asphyxia, characterized by fatigue, dizziness, coma and death, if abused." This quote is from the website below.

helium is a gas that can make your voice high...i don't know if you should be sucking up a lot of that up...oxygen is more better
