As a member of the US military it's only expected that i should answer with a cadence;
Ours is not to reason why
Ours is but to do or die
If I actually sat down and thought about all of the reasons for and against this war one of two things would happen; 1)I would get really pissed off, or 2) I would start questioning the orders given to me. So, I don't think about it. I don't know and I don't care why Bush went into I Iraq. I do what I'm friggen told and I do it to the best of my ability.
Only the people at home watching the news, getting half the story, have the luxury of questioning things.

The Bush-Cheney-Rumsfel invasion and occupation of Iraq has been a disaster for the people of the United States and a disaster for the people of Iraq.
The invasion was based on Iraq having undisclosed weapons of mass destruction - but we invaded before any had been found and while inspections where still in progress. It was based on claims that Iraq had been trying to get nuclear materials - claims that the White House already knew where disproved at the time they made them. The invasion was a violation of International Law and set up the US as an out of control bully nation, no better than other nations that invade and conquer on trumped up reasons.
To field the invasion, Bush pulled our troops out of Afghanistan, and the Taliban is back openly ruling now throughout Afghanistan.
The occupation has been a disaster, incredibly expensive in American lives, far more expensive in the lives of innocent Iraqi people (the ones we were supposed to be helping) and enormously expensive in dollars. Poorly planned and poorly executed, the occupation has proven the incompetence of the Bush White House and the failure of the American conservative agenda.

A corrupt (oil) and misinformed ( no WMD found ) President takes us into one war that never really got off the ground ( where is Bin Laden?? ) although it was in the right place to go after 9/11 and then moves US into a war that was not necessary nor planned at all. Now we have a total mess in both places ( we are losing ground dammit!!!!) and our brave men and women are dying at a more rapid pace than any previous time there. Total incompetence and ill-intended use of our troops and US power overall.
BUT.....not at all surprising for this moron and his arch-evil VP.

I support the president, I think he is a good man. I see all that has been accomplished because we sent our troops to Iraq. I will not go into it, I took the time to read the hundreds of books on the war, the middle east, the history of Israel / Arab conflict. The strategic value of this war is amazing. The intelligence we have gathered in the past 5 years priceless and none of it would have been possible without a large military presence smack dab in the middle east.

A long time ago, in the civil war, Abraham Lincoln was critisized for starting the war to: control the cotton industry, make false claims regarding the war, and he stuck his nose in the business of others. President Lincoln was the most hated man of his time, but one of the most revered of ours. President Bush is very similar in our comments about him. People hate him and claim that the US needs to mind our own business. They say the Iraqui people hate us and did want their help. That statement is not true. The people that are grateful for our help are those under oppression. A second holocaust was happening right beneath our noses. In Iraq, there have been several records of Saddam Huessain throwing people out of a multi-storied building for petty reasons. If people studied history and then paid attention to what is actually going on, they may learn something.

I tihnk we're doing a good job in Iraq. First of all this is war, people die. 2,800 is a tradegy, but more people have died in wars much shorter then this. Iraq and the middle East is an extremly diffucult place to build a democracy. The president is genuine and is doing what he thinks is right. Yes the situation can be improved but our leaders have to work together to create a comprehensive solution.

I believe he is the worst president we have perhaps ever had. If we were fight terrorists then why is it that we didn't commit to Afganistan and stick to it. We now have about 5000 combat troups there where there really were terrorist. Iraqi did not have anything to do with 9-11 and there is no, do you hear me, no evidence that Sadam was supporting terrorists. So why did we go there. Bush has an agenda that we certianly do not know about and his family values apply to familys with millions of dollars, not to the average person who has to struggle to pay rent.

It's pretty scary when your president has to keep making up reasons why we are at war. Weapons of mass destruction...yeah, where were those again? Oh, that's right, there never were any. Bush likes to hear himself talk and he's a war president we don't need any more countries mad at us.

My thoughts are that most people don't understand anything about gov't and automatically hear war and are against it and criticize the president. Those people should go live in Russia and realize there freedom does not come without the price of war.
