When you say SYSTEM, if you mean just subs and an amp then 1000 will get you a decent system, but you'll need to spend more if you want a great system. If your talking about a full system (deck, speakers, amps, subs) then 1000 won't do the job. I'll assume you are interested in just subs and an amp, in that case here's what I suggest for 1000. If you listen to a variety of music then go with either the MTX SLH-T5512X2-D with the TA4501 or the MTX SLH-T7512X2-D with the TA5601. Now if you listen to primarily rap or music with a lot of bass then go with Kicker DS12L5 and the ZX1000.1. Now if you want to do some real damage then go with JL Audio, it's gonna cost you a bit more, but the output is phenomenal. Get 2 12inch W6v2 or even W7(these could hurt you) and the JL 1000/1 amp. Any of these four setups will give you outstanding bass, not to mention reliability. There are other options out there as well like Memphis, Audiobahn, Diamond Audio, etc. The list goes on and on. Your best bet is to shop around. Grab one of your favorite cd's and take it with you to every dealer in your area and see what they have to offer, because in the end only you can say what you think sounds best.

Actually 1 Grand COULD get you a GREAT system! In a Navigator, is space isn't an issue, I would go with 2 15's with a greatly tuned box. Look for upper scale sub's such as your Treos, Fi's, RE's, Adire's, etc. Shop around, the net is your friend! Also read up on some forums...you can never fail there!

as far as subs\amps only go, you could get a 150db system going for less than $1000. single 15" type-r, custom enclosure, 1000w amp. ive seen this type of set up hit 150.4db in an suv before.
