Do what she wants and leave her alone. Some dogs are very territorial when they are about to give birth and wont let anyone near them, their den or their pups. Some dogs have even gone so far as to eat their own puppies if they are interfered with so my advise is to let her take care of it herself as dogs have been doing for thousands of years without human 'help'.

that would b a golden retriever. some dogs just prefer to do it on their own. just b around in case she gets into trouble. having puppies is as natural as breathing so there really shouldn't be much of a problem. good luck. she's liable to b the same way when the pups get here so don't b too surprised if that happens.

She's being instinctively protective, and may have already (prior too breeding) been more dominate. Now isnt really the best time for you to retake the boss roll.. Be careful to keep kids and other pets from her.

Some doggie mommies are a little nervous & sensitive when preggers. Just be kind, calm, quiet & talk to her softly..she trusts you but is just a little skittish with her condition....PS Gotta say it...why is your dog pregnant?

she sounds nervous but protective. try not to make loud noises or startle her anyway. if u want to pet her have her come over to you *(use treats!) and pet her lightly while shes eating the treats. let her know u wont hurt her. good luck with this whole pregnancy and inding homes for the puppies, please consider haveing ur dog spayed after this birth.=] g'luck

She's just over protective of her babies. If she's not nipping or growling, your probably ok. Give her the space she wants, but you don't have to totally shut her out.

Animals really don't need people's help with anything. She's knows naturally what to do. You don't have to baby her; remmber she is an animal afterall, not a human. Sit back and enjoy your puppies when they come :)

What is it you want to help her with????? She may just want to be left alone for a while. Add details of what you can.

i would check on her every day to see if she will let you pet her. she is just nervous, and if you pet her, she may feel comforted.
