My cats keep pissin on my floor--like right in front of the litter box. They use the litter box and i know they know how to use it but they piss on the floor too and it makes me mad cuz its nasty smelling. I steam clean the carpet where they do it. I tried pet repelant. I scold them. They are both fixed. I think its the female that keeps doing it. They are about 1 1/2 yrs old. How so i get them to stop???????

Are you sure the litter is clean enough for their liking. Or did you change the brand of litter. They are trying to tell you they don't like the litter. Think about it. If they liked peeing on the floor; they would go whererver. The only times, very rare, that one of my
three cats did not go in the box, it was either right in front of the
box or in the bathtub and i found that the litter is dirty. If you mean that they hang their butt over the pan and pee, try a plastic
mat under the box.

You have to get rid of all the odor from the urine its probably underneath the pad and they can still smell that. Theres a product that sells a blacklight and when you turn the lights off you can see where all the urine still is pick up that part of the carpet and make sure there litterbox is spotless and it you changed litter recently put it back to what it was. Cats are very clean animals and they wont go unless its clean for them.

Are you sure it is not the male and he is spraying his territory? Males usually mark far more than a female. Can you put the litter box where there is no carpet? Can you also put two litter boxes down so they each have their own. Never clean with ammonia, it makes them want to go there more. (not saying you did, just an fyi)

Put some aluminum foil down in the area where they pee.
Cats do not like the sound the foil makes when the pee hits. Also have your cats check by a vet. They could have
ear mites which can cause them to lose their sense
of direction. Your kitties might think they are inside the box when they are out.

If the litter box is covered, uncover it and wash when you change the litter. You even could try washing the lid right now to see if that helps.

have u moved or something equally stressful to the cats. any changes at all. change the brand of cat litter maybe. maybe they r mad at each other , get a 2nd box. maybe u don't clean it often enough to suit them. maybe u'll have to just get rid of her if she won't change. where is the box, mine is in the bathroom so at least i don't have to worry about the carpet. good luck.

It is possible that she may have a urinary tract infection, you may want to stop by your vet and pick up some nosorb, a black crystal like nonabsorbent "litter" so you can collect a urine sample to get it checked out. you may also want to separate your cats, put one in the bathroom, for a day or so to see who is the culprit.

Do you keep their litter box really clean? Maybe they don't like it if it's too full. You can also see the article below.
