Can you just worry about yourself and what you think is true? God loving people live in the real world, and deal with alllll the same bulls*it that you do. Lucky for them though, they have the God that's in control of the world helping them out. Makes life a little easier, a little happier. I suppose YOU can't put your pride away and accept that maybe there's something better and more powerful than YOU. What? What's this? MAN is not in control of everything? Man isn't the most powerful thing that exists? What? haha, get over it dude.

But it's so much easier to live by "the book" and ask somebody else (your priest or w/e) for help or for answers to questions you should decide on your own.
Oh and the "200 year old dead man" doesn't want anything. He's dead. He was just a human being who wanted peace (much like Gandhi) and was idealized, even inspired a book :-D That's what most people can't seem to understand. I bet if he still lived and saw what people are doing, he'd be pretty disappointed.

Oh, right. I am an independent, well educated woman. I am a mother, wife and have a professional career. I was a sinner most of my life. Thinking that I knew it all. I relate a little too well to the real world and have experienced many things. And God doesn't tell me what to think. He helps and shows me how to live.

Considering the fact that Christ ROSE FROM THE DEAD, I'd say I should be worried about what He wants.

I'm unsure what's wrong with people choosing a role model regardless of the "time" that person lived.

Go ahead! Not me! I'm more interested in going to heaven that being in this present world.
Jesus Christ Is the One and Only Way To Heaven!
In The Holy Bible, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6. He meant “I am the only way to God the Father and to heaven”, “I am the only truth that you need to know.” and “I am the only spiritual life available to mankind.” In other words, “I am the only true and living God.”
All other so-called gods are false gods. They are not real. They do not exist. Satan creates counterfeit gods, religions and faith in them. They appear to be the genuine articles but they are false. They are phony. They are bogus. No other so-called god has the power to forgive, cleanse and remove all your sins from you to get you to heaven. They don't even claim to.
I pray you will believe this and accept the fact that you are a sinner needing to be saved from your sins (“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23, The Holy Bible.) and accept the fact that the blood Jesus Christ shed for you at Calvary is the only way you can have your sins forgiven, cleansed and removed and is the only way you can get to heaven. I pray you will acknowledge that you are a sinner and ask Jesus Christ to forgive, cleanse and remove all you sins and accept Him into your heart/life to live for Him the rest of your life. (“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” John 1:12, in the Holy Bible.) That is what it means to be born again. (“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 in The Holy Bible.) Salvation is a free gift. You cannot work for it. You cannot be good enough to earn it. You must, by faith, receive it as a free gift. (“8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast.”) Ephesians 2:8-9.
God loves you and it is not His will that you perish in hell.
(“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” II Peter 3:9 in The Holy bible.)
