I know how to do it but my curls are always flat on top. am i rolling in the wrong direction? Please help!

It's velcro, dear. Try holding your hair straight up above your head and then rolling it straight down.

My girlfriend normally uses salon type rollers in towel dried hair + setting lotion and then either lets it air dry or uses a bonnet drier,

She used to use velcro but did not get the results she wanted also the velcro rollers used to keep snagging in her hair

You might need some mousse or a setting spray. Use curlers when your hair is damp! and do some house work or your nails or read a magazine. Let it dry thouroughly. and use bobby pins to hold them tighter. try to set your hair front to back.
